Early season campsite so I didn’t expect it to be in prestige condition but the ground was flat and plenty of room for a 5-6 person tent. The bathrooms were available with toilet paper stocked but a little hesitant to go into due to the spider webs, birds nesting in them and unclean toilet seats. Overall it was a good experience and I would go back to the same site.

Great lake and facilities at Yorty Creek, however the camp sites desperately need animal proof trash cans. Many sites I passed had trash strewn all over from animals getting into the cans. Maintenance crew can only do so much

Camping mid-week during spring when the water level is high is a beautiful time to explore Lake Sonoma. Fishing was surprisingly slow but they're in there! Lots of bird life to observe; turkeys, ducks, geese, wood peckers, cormorants, vultures on full display.

We hiked in. Ticks were really, really bad. Trail grass was high and all over the trail. Had to bushwhack off of the main trail to black mountain campsite. Numerous trees over the old trail. Camp site was nice though. Those bullfrogs though... loud af.

To prep for trip to the Boundary Waters, a few scouts paddled out and camped at Skunk Creek over Memorial Day weekend. Was expecting it to be crowded with a lake full of boats over the long weekend, but to our pleasant surprise there were barely a dozen cars in the parking lot, only one other group at Skunk Creek, and felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves. Our campsite as with a few others at Skunk Creek and nearby Thumb campground were under water, but there were plenty of sites for us to move into. It was a wonderful, peaceful, and enjoyable time in nature, and even more wonderful that all of us caught fish. First time at Lake Sonoma, and based on this experience will definitely be back many times in the future to spend time boating and fishing at this amazing place.

Loggers is great. Sites 3&4 give you good shade and a great view of the lake, site 7 is fully exposed and rough. Good times

Take Highway 101 north of San Francisco to the town of Healdsburg and exit on Dry Creek Road. Travel west 11 miles to reach the visitor center on the right. The public boat ramp is 1.5 miles further up the road.
The campground is accessible via Highway 101, which is approximately 11 miles east of the visitor center accessed from Dry Creek Road.
