Boat-in Sites (Lake Sonoma)

Really awesome boat in site! I was the only one there so it made for a memorable canoe trip. The water level was very high so a few sites were under water.

In December, it is not crowded. Yes, it can be chilly. But, it is like have your own private campground.

Don’t leave you truck at the parking l had my soft topper camper shell sliced up with razor blade so they could steal a couple tie down straps and a shovel

It's always amazing, only pit toilets but if you can deal with that the camping is unparalleled, sites are almost always available for boat in, been canoe camping there for years and it is always a blast

I really enjoyed camping at Skunk campground, the late was "full" at ~250,000 level. The temps were in the 90s, and the water was 78f which made swimming perfect. We paddled from Yorty creek 3mi over to Thumb campground and continued to Skunk. Being in no-wake zones the water was smooth and paddeling easy. Crossing the between the arms is a no-water ski zone with a 50mph limit, but the 3 boats we saw kept their distance. Only one time around Rustlers campground did we have a boat come in blaring loud music, the rest of the lake especially out by Skunk and Thumb was very quiet and calm.

Thumb itself was busy with about 6-8 kayaks, and the camp sites are small and pretty close to each other, and rustic is the right term. They're dirt and I'm not really sure if all of them have a flat spot for a tent. It's nice they have garbage cans, picnic tables (some in better repair than others) and toilets If it was a busy weekend it would suck if you happen to pick a lowsy site, especially since there aren't any picures of site or any way to judge of 1, 2 or 3 are "good" when booking.

Given it quiet, and seeing Skunk was empty and 200 feet away we packed up and paddled over to it instead and had the whole campground to ourselves. We had to move sites as we found a yellow jacket nest in the ground about 10 feet away from the table.

It was incredibly fun to go swimming, quiet paddling, etc. BUT if it was busy and you can't spread out, or a jerk pulls in blasting thump thump music it can kind of ruin your stay....

Excellent place for boat-in camping. Loggers Camp was great. Be aware no trailers allowed at the Yorty creek entrance.

At these sites RS 1&2 just know that you are hiking to the other sites for the hot box toilets. It would be nice if they could put one more convenient to these sites.

My campsite was some how double booked. Booked two sites to not have neighbors but ended up sharing the area with another family

We love Lake Sonoma but the army corps is not taking care of the camp sites.
They did not collect the trash. I had to yell at them to get action
Trash was all over several campsites.
The toilets were not serviced and they were in severe disrepair.
They did not enforce any kind of camp quiet time. We had a party going until well after midnight one evening with loud music.
They are not managing the lake. We had several nights with wake surfers on the water after dark with speakers blaring.
