What Guests Are Saying
Ellery Creek offers a beautiful location near the lake, with well-maintained grounds and nearby caves to explore. While some sites are small and not suitable for larger RVs, visitors have enjoyed the picturesque scenery and water access when the lake is high. However, there are concerns about cleanliness and safety, particularly regarding broken facilities and overgrown areas.

The creek is extremely muddy, so don’t expect to swim/walk/wade or set up a chair to sit a few yards from it. However, sunset and sunrise are EXCEPTIONALLY beautiful there. And you can see a few fairly large bear prints down by the creek (bring bear spray & lock up food in the bins provided!!). Road leading to the campsite is quite windy. We were one of two campsites there, but the only one tenting out, it became very windy at night, recommend bringing weights to keep the tent down, stakes didn’t go into the ground (could be that the tent was over pavement)

The group before us left our site really dirty, with trash overflowing. The site host was very kind and made an extra trip to remove the trash, which we greatly appreciated! Great location, so beautiful. The water level was incredibly low, but we still had a great time in the lake. We loved the fire rings that were set away from the campsite a bit, and we enjoyed a beautiful fire under the stars. Would come back.

We had a nice site tucked under some trees #07. Very hot during the summer, but easy access to the lake. Prepare for lots of mosquitos!

When the lake is high, there are nice semi-private campsites in clear view of the water (10 -12 I believe and some down on the pavement which aren't very private), these book up fast and a long time in advance. Unfortunately, one of the nights we were there a pretty harsh lightning, thunder and rain storm came in at night and was little scary following our recent north state fires, knowing we were way in a long and winding road and not quick exit.
