This campground is in a beautiful location right beside the actual Silver Lake body of water. It is run by a very nice couple.
If you are in a tent (only), some of the sites are very exposed with no shade. We were on a motorcycle and were fortunate with Site 28 that there were some large shrub nearby facing east, so we got shade in the morning. We were also right by the water. There were a lot of mosquitos in the last week of July, but Deet saved us!
There could be more restrooms. It was a slight bit of a walk to them. That said, they were spotlessly clean, and we didn't have to wait very long. There are also showers - YES! - and the camp hosts will gladly give you change in quarters to use them.
All the other campers we met were friendly and decent. The Silver Lake Resort & General Store across the road has very old school "mountain town" vibes and has a lovely cafe/diner attached.
Would come again - if we can get a shaded site!

Very pleasant experience. A welcoming, chil vibe. Spacious campsites with stunning views at every turn. Clean, flush toilets and hot showers. Beautiful, clear water lake. Camp store and dinner. Day trip driving distance from Yosemite Valley. Friendly hosts. What’s not to like. No dump station on site but a very nice one at the service station not far north on the 395. We will be back.

we only saw the camp host once. There was no shade so that was not great. But overall nice neighbors.

The lake is incredible and the views are beautiful. Our campsite was in the middle of the campground and had little privacy and no shade, except what was provided by our trailer. Quiet at night.

Little to no shade on most
Campsites. No hand soap in bathrooms, mostly clean though.
Other campers stored their fishing boats, kayaks all over the beach, seemingly to reserve beach spots.
Beautiful area and campground is well kept otherwise. Directly across the street
From Rush Creek trailhead is a big plus, especially as we stayed a couple nights before heading out for a backpacking trip to Thousand Island Lake!

Silver Lake Campground is a beautiful campground tucked nicely between the Eastern Sierras and around the bend from June and Gull Lakes. Rush Creek is adjacent to some of the campground sites as is the lake. We were only here for two days, but we definitely will return. We found the Rush Creek Trailhead nearby and hiked up to Lake Agnew and we experienced some stunning views. We did happen to catch a summer rain/thunder storm which cooled down the temperature and allowed us to see a sparkling new day with steam arising from the nearby lake. We stayed in site 25 which felt secluded and private and was just a few steps away from lake access. It was a clean campground, however there is no dump station at the campground, however the nearby Oh Ridge campground has a dump for a fee.

The campground is accessed via U.S. Highway 395, which is approximately 7 miles from Highway 158, the road leading directly to Silver Lake Campground.

General
- This is a high elevation facility; please use caution when traveling from lower elevations
- Be bear aware; keep all food out of site in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating; always keep a clean camp and do not feed any wild animals; campground host has bear literature
- Only 2 pets per site allowed.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed. For current fire conditions or weather closures contact the Mammoth Lakes Visitor Center, (760) 924-5500, or the Mono Lakes Visitor Center, (760) 647-3044.
- Please Note: One RV with tow per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. In accordance with standard industry practices, Inyo Recreation will assess an additional $10.00 extra vehicle fee per day for the second vehicle in each single family campsite, and on the third and fourth vehicle in any double family campsite, provided these vehicles are not joined to the first vehicle by a hitch and towed onto the site. In the case of motorcycles, the first two are considered one vehicle, and the third and fourth motorcycle are also considered one vehicle. No additional vehicle fees are collected for bicycles.
- Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of the second day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests.
- Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
