What Guests Are Saying

Butte Lake Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained environment with clean restrooms, spacious sites, and close proximity to the stunning Cinder Cone Trail and Butte Lake, making it ideal for outdoor activities like swimming and hiking. Many campers appreciated the tranquility and wildlife, as well as the friendly park staff. However, some noted issues with steeply inclined sites, dust from fast-moving vehicles, and limited ranger presence, which could detract from the experience.

We hiked lassen peak and the cinder cone. Saw a bear cub on the way to snag lake and a deer near our camp site. Our tent site was not as flat as i would have liked (B52). No water due to low lake level. We were given plenty of warning…bringing our own water wasnt bad at all. Very clean quiet campground. Will stay again….but at a different (flat) site!

This was our 3rd trip to Butte Lake, previous trip was just before the Dixie fire. We were happy to see that fire damage was spotty. Still lots of beauty. We found the burned wood to be beautiful and interesting in its own way! We needed to bring our water and use vault toilets--well-maintained, no problem (regular restrooms to re-open soon). We love the hiking in this area--around the lake, cinder cone, nearby lakes, etc. Lots of hiking accessed from the camping area. Highly recommended
