What Guests Are Saying

Butte Lake Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained environment with clean restrooms, spacious sites, and close proximity to the stunning Cinder Cone Trail and Butte Lake, making it ideal for outdoor activities like swimming and hiking. Many campers appreciated the tranquility and wildlife, as well as the friendly park staff. However, some noted issues with steeply inclined sites, dust from fast-moving vehicles, and limited ranger presence, which could detract from the experience.

Great location next to the lake. Bathrooms were relatively clean but men’s bathroom didn’t have soap. The campground was VERY noisy (people playing drums and such) for hours on end. It got quiet at 10 pm but one morning there were lots of loud noises starting at 5am. No idea what they were. Overall a nice campground aside from the noise.

I enjoyed my stay here very much. Bathrooms were fairly clean, but not much hand soap. It seemed like I could only ever get soap first thing in the morning. When we arrived to our reserved campsite someone else was there. It would be nice if there was someone making sure people vacate when they are suppose to. They only had it reserved for one night but thought it was two. We ended up having to set up at a different sight and hope no one else showed up, then move our camp to the reserved site the next day. Gravel road was very easy to drive down. It was overall a wonderful stay other than someone being at our site when they should not have been.

The campground was awesome, but the ranger station should be staffed all the time. There are a lot of hikes in the area and having a ranger around to answer any questions and make suggestions based on trail conditions would make this a total 5 star campground

Awesome to be next to a lake! The moment we parked our car - there was rain, thunderstorm and hail - beautiful!

We hiked the Bathtub trail to Widow lake - last section of Widow Lake trail was still "lost" in the aftermath of the fires. It was fun to be lost, depending only on the terrain to find sections of the trail to the mouth of the lake! Again we saw a team of park staff clearing the trail of fallen/burnt trees. Thank you.

Snag lake was amazing. Felt like a fairy tale. Difficult hike during the heat of the day though.

Wonderful campground but be advised that the cap sites along the main road get dusted due to people thinking the dirt road is a highway.

Fantastic spot, the campground is really nice, good shade and pretty levelled spots, bathrooms are in good condition. Great trailhead for Cynder cone and the lakes from here. Recommended

  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.

    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
