Pinnacles Campground

Great campground, well spaced out, felt private. Could use more bathrooms, and a bit cleaner. Showers were nice and clean.
More parking at trail heads! Lots of waiting and circling for spots to open.

Campsite was nice overall, but loop c doesn’t have a flush toilet and the bathrooms started to smell strongly after a couple of days

Beautiful site. Nice free hot showers! Typically stocked camp store. Would have appreciated slightly later hours for it to be open. And firewood to be a little more consistently available. Quiet hour enforcement would have been appreciated a couple times. But most importantly --put a shelf up in the bathroom! I've been to a lot of campsites --never had to put my stuff on the floor to brush my teeth/etc. But honestly, overall, really lovely place and incredible park.

great trip, good challenging hiking, very nice campground, my only complaint was the trash bins were all full. I definitely plan on returning next year

What a great campground. Sites are reasonably private (we stayed in 36B). We had just enough room under the tree at the back of the site to set up our Nemo 4-person. Fire ring, picnic table, water at our site, and enough parking space for our 4Runner. Plus some open space for our solar panels. We had it all! :). This campground is nice to walk around and see the condors (or vultures). Bathroom and shower house were clean and sufficient. Camp store was well stocked and a nice place to visit. Bookstore attendants were friendly and helpful.

The campground is beautiful with grass and trees for shade. While we didn't use the fire ring this time, the picnic table was appreciated. We like that showers are available, though there is almost always a line. Camp store has everything you might forget then the NPS store has great souvenirs too. Our only complaint is that the women's toilets seemed to have back-up issues very easily.
We enjoyed the hike through Bear Gulch Cave though some parts were tricky with the running water below and the low ceiling above us. Hiking poles were useful here. High Peaks Trail was hard but the views and the soaring condors made it worthwhile. Returning via Blue Oaks Trail, we enjoyed the oaks and the wildflowers. Hiking to Balconies Cave was easy and beautiful. We were glad we chose to hike up through the cave rather than go down. A warning on both trails to the caves: be careful what you touch because there was plenty of poison oak at the edge of the trails. Otherwise, this is a beautiful place to visit in spring!

The park itself is quite nice. But something weird was happening with the park employees. All seemed to be angry and distracted. One actually confided to me that they were having "management issues." Most of the park employees appeared unwilling or unable to do their jobs properly. For example, I passed a work crew comprised of several employees carrying shovels and other tools down a trail, obviously avoiding each other and looking unhappy. None looked competent to use a shovel and appeared to be straining even to carry the tools on a trail. Most restrooms were not cleaned properly and many were out of paper supplies. The restroom near the visitor center was barricaded off with signs indicating plumbing issues, and the only other restroom in the area, a portable toilet, was completely out of paper and filthy. Another example - I stopped my car slowly and politely on an empty road with no traffic, to ask a quick question of a ranger. She refused to listen and demanded that I drive away from her, park at a parking lot several hundred feet away, and walk back before she would speak with me. The other ranger nearby also wanted to argue with me. I was not being confrontational or impolite in any way - they just didn't want to talk to me and were obviously experiencing "management issues."

Also - I hate to have to say this, but at least 50% of the park employees I saw appeared to have been hired on the basis of gender confusion rather than competence. What a mess. Whoever is doing the hiring and/or providing "leadership" at this park needs to be fired, along with all the incompetent staff s/he has hired.

The older gentleman (maybe a docent?) at the visitor center counter was the sole exception - he was helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Coincidence? No.

This was my 1st time to Pinnacles National Park. The campground was quiet and very well maintained. The camp store and bookstore was very well stocked and staff were knowledgeable. Hiking to and through the caves was amazing!

Great as always! Facilities were clean and well stocked. Campground site was amazing. Took advantage of the showers on the way out and they were super clean, and stocked with shampoo and body wash. My son did want to add that Pinnacles ‘ should add more caves’ He was a fan!

Well maintained trails. Friendly camp store staff. Shower facilities!
