Pinnacles Campground

This is one of my very favorite campsites! It’s perfect for hammock camping, with multiple trees at a good distance from each other. At least 2 hammocks can be set up between trees—more if you use hammock stand poles like the Tensa Solo or Tensa Trekking Treez. There is a shady area under a thicket of trees and surrounded by brush that fits a tent perfectly, too. The campsite is along the creek, so you hear the water if you are close enough and it’s lovely. The frogs will sing you to sleep. The site is close to the campground entrance which means more foot and vehicle traffic, but it also means the WiFi from the camp store reaches the campsite! You do have to pay for any more than 50 mb of data (which is not a lot), but it’s $7 for 7 days, per device. So if this is my favorite campsite, why the 4 stars? Raccoons. Raccoons the size of dogs. Raccoons that travel in packs of 8 or more and come out of that thicket I was talking about. I went to the bathroom and came back and they were trying to steal my sweatshirt that I had tied to the picnic table!! They are bold and will come up and take food off your table while you are sitting there!! It was honestly pretty funny, and a good, loud “get outta here!” shoos them away. Don’t let the raccoons put you off of this campsite, though. It really is magical at night with the stars and Milky Way on full display.

I loved our campsite. It had lots of shade and was tucked away from any noise. There was water and bathrooms also very close to our campsite. The toilets were clean. The pool and showers were also very nice and easy to access.

We really enjoyed this campground! Lots of deer and rabbits and vultures and birds. Was very grateful for the pool!! Really awesome. This whole park was amazing. The coolest trails and views.

Campground was well maintained and the staff was friendly and helpful. Went in July and the weather was hot, but luckily there was some shade at our campsite 4A. Would definitely come again!

Our camping experience at Pinnacles was exceptional. The campground is meticulously maintained, and the restrooms and showers are consistently clean and well-kept. The swimming pool is a significant advantage, and the trails are truly outstanding, making them a highly recommended activity.

​We stayed in a cabin tent that was very clean, though the mattresses weren't particularly comfortable. Unfortunately, just outside our porch area was a white tissue covered in a dark substance, along with a few other wrappers. We hoped it was chocolate, but guessed it probably wasn't—which was pretty off-putting.

​On the positive side, the bathrooms were very clean and appeared brand new. The showers were free and clean enough, which we appreciated.

​When we arrived around 4:30 PM, I checked in at the store since I couldn't access my email to find our site number. It was 100 degrees out, so I was really looking forward to the pool, but the staff member who checked me in didn't mention any pool hours (nor were they listed on the camping FAQ sheet we were given). We hung out at camp until 5:50 PM before heading to the pool to cool off. I had barely stepped waist-deep into the water when the front desk staff came in and rather rudely told us to get out because the pool was closed. I managed to dunk my hair, and that was it. Given the extreme heat, it would have been nice if they had mentioned the 5:30 PM closing time at check-in.
​Other than those issues, it was a nice stay for the evening.

No matter how hot, over 100 degrees, there is shade, cool mornigs and evenings for walks, and of course the caves
