What Guests Are Saying
Bear River Lake Resort offers a beautiful natural setting with a picturesque lake and a fun day-use area for swimming and paddle boarding. However, many reviews highlight issues with management, narrow and steep camping sites, and inadequate restroom facilities, especially during busy periods. The lodge, which previously provided dining options, has not been rebuilt since burning down, leading to disappointment among returning visitors.

Not a well run park. Sites are very narrow and on steep slopes. Staff not knowledgeable or competent. Do not recommend although the location is good

First time camping here. Checked the website prior to our visit and was excited to see there was a lodge with a full restaurant and bar and featured specials. I planned our meals around the fact that we could have at least one full meal at the lodge. Nowhere on the website does it state that the lodge had burned down in recent years and there was no longer a restaurant / bar. The conditions of the restrooms were awful. There is only one set of restrooms in the campground area. It was a busy 4th of July holiday weekend and the women's restroom had a fully clogged toilet for at least 24 hrs. The stall next to it was out of toilet paper most of the time so I started just bringing my own or walking the extra distance to the bathroom near the main entrance. The men's room toilet became clogged as well. I went in to the office to ask if they were aware of the maintenance issue and was met with a snide response of "yeah, we know, we're just trying to get ahold of the cleaning lady so she can unlock the closet." WHAT? A holiday weekend and you need to get ahold of someone to unlock your supply closet? For the price of the sites here, there should be ample supplies and constant monitoring of the facilities. There is ONE building to monitor within the campground.
The day use area here seemed fun for people to post up on the beach and the little cove area for swimming, paddle boarding etc.
The lake/reservoir are beautiful and it's a beautiful area for camping but I don't think I'd revisit this campground again due to lack of maintenance.

Love this campground can get packed though in the summer. It had a beautiful lodge but burned down. Not sure if they rebuilt yet.

We have been going to Bear River Resort for many years.
Was extremely shocked at how the place in now being ran.
Apparently, after the fire, the resort was sold.
Now, there is a price increase as well as a resort fee!
I wouldn't mind the price increase & resort fee if they updated and had clean restrooms & showers. We never take showers, and now we get charged for gross dirty showers. They looked like they hadn't been cleaned all summer. (Clothing hanging, several gross soap bars on floor & window, paper towels everywhere)
The toliets were all backed up and plugged with feces.
Extremely disappointed, and paid more for the grossness of the entire thing.
Sadly, our annual Bear River Resort camping trip will now have to be relocated due to the new mismanagement of the facilities

Love this place. We camp in the area whenever we can & stop by for an ice cream on our way home from Tahoe a couple times a year. No cell service at all in the area, but 3 pay phones available (cost me $1.50 to call a 408 number). Propane refills available. Store is a little pricey, but let's be real here- the transportation costs are probably insane for this area. Nothing is so overpriced it's going to break the bank. I personally think most of the prices are reasonable. It would be great if they had more products available, but they definitely seem to always have what I need. Usually friendly people working in the store, on rare occasion there is someone a little less than enthusiastic behind the counter. Can't say I blame them, I wouldn't want to be stuck behind the counter with no view of the lake either. The should consider putting in a window and turning the register around.
Got to see an osprey w\ a fish flying over this time, saw a golden eagle fly over a few years back. Great fishing, great adventures and always incredibly gorgeous.
