The amount of garbage generated by campers is insane; overflowing the bins and really undermining the outdoor experience. I think that parks and rec could be a leader in the areas of limiting single use plastic and capping how much refuse a camping site can generate per day or something along those lines. A difficult problem I'm sure but probably worth a look.

Campers can drive on paved roads to near their camp site and park to load and unload their vehicles, but must park up above in the parking lot. I liked this because to carry things up and down that hill would have been difficult. The lake water was warm enough to make swimming comfortable. The camp was well-maintained and clean. We had a great time, even if it was only for one night.

First time camping at Fashoda. Stayed over Labor Day weekend in 2019. The weather was perfect, campground was busy but clean and very accommodating. Campground host was great. Bathrooms served their purpose. Beach access at the reservoir on both sides of the campground...walking distance to both...bring your watercraft and/or tube. Nearby hike to Bassi Falls was awesome! Will definitely keep coming back to Fashoda. Highly recommend to anyone!

From Placerville, take Highway 50 east for 23 miles. Turn north on Forest Road 3
(Ice House Road) for 15 miles. Look for signs to the campground.
The campground is accessible via Highway 50, which is approximately 23 miles from Placerville. There are no other major roads within 25 miles.

General
- Bears frequent the area; use appropiate food containers
- Forest Order No. 19-15-01: Prohibits camping for a combined total of no more than 14 days during a calendar year (January-December), forest-wide. Visitors may book campsites annually but the maximum stay may not exceed a total of 14 days each calendar year (January-December).
- No hookups available (electric/water/sewer)
- Campground is 100% reservable
- Tent Camping Only. Vehicles must be parked in the parking lot. There are no parking spurs at your site.
- Please keep boats clean, drained and dry, to avoid transport or introduction of aquatic invasive species
- Please Note: One vehicle per single site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed; call (530) 644-6048 for local information and conditions.
- Refunds: Refund requests made through www.recreation.gov will be charged a $10 processing fee. This fee is retained by the reservation service contractor along with the non-refundable reservation fee. All requests for the return of the non-refundable reservation fee and the cancellation fee will be declined by the campground concessionaire as they did not receive these fees (these are the fees retained by the reservation contractor, a different entity).
- Reserved Sites will be held until the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests. Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
