Spanish Creek Campground

Nice campsites, privacy, very helpful camp host.

Stayed in Group site B, it’s a nice site. Can only really fit about 3 cars there. We had a small trailer and RV. It’s on a slope. Nice quiet campsite. It is far from the water, 2 minute drive by car all down hill or about a 10 minute walk down hill.

Great campground! Very pretty, easy river access on a (rocky) beach for swimming, clean bathrooms, firewood bundles are $10 from the host. Bring your own drinking water though, the spigots are nasty. You can see and definitely hear the trains but they didn't bother us sleeping, and they're cool! We loved site 13, easily the best and most private site in the lower loop. It's set well back from the road, far enough that we couldn't see or hear the next campsite, and faces the river and nature. There's an overgrown path from this site to the water. Good flat spaces for two tents. Car must be parked on the road a few yards away from the campsite.

TRAINS! TRAINS! TRAINS! The trains are very active all day and all night long. The tracks are not far from the sites. The camp hosts this year were non-existent, for the 4 days we were there we never once saw them. The one bathroom open was a mess and TP in short supply. Quincy is close by for any forgotten items and there is a dump station at the RV park. Fishing was disappointing to say the least.

Extremely loud trains all night. The proximity was not noted in the campsite information. No potable water, no shower. The site itself was very small, with no real tent site and we had to pitch our tent in asphalt.

Camp host was great, grounds were kept up and clean. We will return.

We never saw the host. Group Site B is at an incline with limited spots for tents. I’m not sure how you’d fit 25 people, but site A and C seemed worse for tent camping. Site C is good for RVs and a few tents. Site B had great shade - site A had limited shade, but their own bathroom. There’s parking at site B for about 4 cars - sites A and C fit more cars. There’s a paved walking path that goes through campsite B - group C kept using it instead of walking around our site so expect less privacy. Site B also had just one bear box and 3 picnic tables.
Overall we did have a good time, but thankfully half our group had to cancel last minute because we wouldn’t have known where to put their tents.

Stayed at Spanish Creek Campground Site #22 for 8 nights -- a wonderful experience. The creek and "swimming hole" were fantastic, the campsite very spacious. Table, fire ring and parking space sufficient for two trucks all part of the site. Access to nearby Quincy was a quick ten minutes away -- very convenient. The camp host was friendly and patrolled the campground twice a day. No potable water at this campground, however, we washed dishes and clothes in our site using the non-potable water. Just wish they had more staff to clean the bathrooms more frequently, but other than that small complaint, we really enjoyed our week at Spanish Creek.
