About Spanish Creek Campground

Spanish Creek Campground is located on Highway 70 just east of the Highway 89 intersection; just east of where Banish Creek and Indian Creek merge together to create the east branch of the North Fork Feather River. The campground is right on Spanish Creek with a very popular swimming hole. Although the campground has been recently upgraded, it still holds the charm that it did in years past.

What Guests Are Saying

Spanish Creek Campground offers a beautiful location with great access to a swimming hole and nearby attractions like the Butterfly Valley Botanical Area. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, clean facilities, and a peaceful environment, especially in the upper loop with more privacy. However, the loud trains nearby can be a significant drawback for those sensitive to noise, and some facilities, like restrooms, could use more frequent maintenance.

Great campground but be prepared to wake up to the train 2-3 times at night.

I did not see a provision for entering my Senior Pass number when making my reservation online, which resulted in paying twice for the site what I should have. We wanted to stay an additional night. I checked with the camp host(ess) who told me that the site was reserved by someone else. Consequently, we moved to another site. The people who reserved our original site never showed up.
On the up side, the hostess was helpful and friendly. The swimming hole on Spanish Creek is wonderful.

We enjoyed our stay at Spanish Creek. However, the bathrooms could be a little cleaner, and the campsites were a little weedy. We'll visit the campsite again, as the host was great and painlessly solved our logistical issues. The swimming hole was great, and that area was free from litter. The campsite and swimming hole areas were not buggy - a big plus! (We visited in late July.) Although completely outside the control of the campsite, trains roll by 2-3 times in the middle of the night. It was not a big deal for us.

The camp spot was wonderful, but the camp hist never came by yo check on anything. When the other campsites were partying until 3 am she did not ask them to turn the music down, so my kids were not able to sleep at all. We packed up and left early gecause of it. We wasted an entire night that we did not get our money back because the camp host did not enforce the 10:00 pm quiet time.

Campground was fine. Seemed small for a group campsite. Lacked any potable water and dumpsters were located in the single family campsite.

Expensive for how small the site was.

The campsite was beautiful. Because of the torrential rain we got every afternoon and evening on this trip, we didn’t try the camp fire pit. Bec of the rain we liked being able to move the table a bit.

The biggest drawback/ disappointment/ outrage / drawback was the water situation. Your website said water available. The first day there was no water what so ever at our loop. The water from the lower loop was so brown as to be unusable even for washing dishes. The second day the water remained unpotable although there was some as the spigot. There was no reason to charge full price for a campground without potable water! It is more than annoying to arrive at dinner time planning on water being available and there was no water ( we couldn’t even use boiled river water as the water was choc milk bec of the rain. Water ——when website tells you water is available —-should be provided!
