What Guests Are Saying
Spanish Creek Campground offers a beautiful location with great access to a swimming hole and nearby attractions like the Butterfly Valley Botanical Area. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, clean facilities, and a peaceful environment, especially in the upper loop with more privacy. However, the loud trains nearby can be a significant drawback for those sensitive to noise, and some facilities, like restrooms, could use more frequent maintenance.

The campsite was amazing! Perfect location steps away from the creek. Manny the campground manager was very helpful answering all our questions and guiding us in the right direction. I would definitely recommend this site for a romantic getaway. We will be back and hope it’s just as perfect.

Though we were scattered around the site that should give you an idea on the spaciousness of our group site. My friends and I traveled pretty far and were not disappointed in the beauty. Site B came with a water spout, fire pit, tables and plenty of shade (aside from the pit area), and is still a good distance from the water, bathrooms, and dumpster. The train running at night gave it a cool eerie feeling like you know you’re secluded but not far from Quincy. Didn’t have time to check out the town other than a couple food runs but the people I did come across were kind and gracious. All in all, we plan on coming back in the future. Manny was as tolerant as he could be, all things considered 😅 but helped where he could.

Lovely campground next to a creek with a swimming hole. Camp host, Manny, was super helpful and friendly. Vault toilets were clean. Site #20 (tent only) has full shade. Campground is near a freight rail line. We didn’t mind the occasional noise but could see how it might bother others. The town of Quincy is 10 miles away; it has a market, snack shops, and gas station. Otherwise the area is pretty remote. Recommend for camping, fishing, hiking.

The location and amenities were fabulous. The camp host on the other hand, was invasive and at times inappropriate.
He came in to our campground without announcing himself or asking/receiving permission to show photos of his personal animal. And then again when he said a snake was sighted on the grounds. Another time he approached my young adult daughter who was wedged between her car and car door changing her clothing to inquire about the extra car fee that my husband had already addressed with him. He stopped us in the road when we were walking to a friends site to ask where we were going and why we were taking a table. The whole experience was uncomfortable and often times felt like we were being interrogated. We’ve never seen or had run ins with a host as many times as we did in this trip. We won’t go back.
