Clean, excellent campsites! I loved that the campground hosts were active in ensuring everyone was following the rules/etc. Much appreciated!

The USFS has chosen a contractor to provide campground services etc. The contractor in my opinion is providing poor customer services. I’ve stayed in many USFS campgrounds without any significant concerns or issues . Fallen Leaf campground is certainly an exception. As at check-in the staff provided rather abrupt and rude responses to simple standard questions about the campground amenities. Notably there is no parking available near the gated roadway that provides access to Fallen Leaf lake within the campground. Kayaker’s must either park illegally to load and unload their kayaks and then promptly return their vehicles to their campsite or carry/cart their kayaks from their campsite. A parking lot at the alternate trailhead is only available to those who pay an additional daily parking fee. However that trail isn’t accessible by those with disabilities or those using a Kayak cart etc. I give the Fallen Leaf campground a D for accessibility. The campground is rather large with over 200 campsites.Accessing showers within the campground may be challenging. As they may be a significant distance from your campsite and you may encounter significant lines. As other campers are waiting for an available shower stall. As not all restrooms include showers. No parking is available at or near the restrooms/Showers. Which in my experience were a considerable distance from the Disabled person campsite that I had reserved. Which created a challenge for my family. As mobility is limited. The bears are very active. Anticipate being awoken several times during the night. As Airhorns,Yelling and pots and pans are banging in the effort to shue bears away from campsites. Late night bathroom visits may include you returning to your campsite to find a bear on your vehicle. In short Fallen Leaf campground is poorly managed and the campground failed to provide accessible access to several significant amenities.

Site 56 was spacious with large picnic table, camp fire ring, and bear locker. Would not recommended for rooftop tent setup. Drive way was not leveled and distance to the restroom was far.

Fallen Leaf Campground is always a favorite for us. We return every year in late September, for 10 years now. The sites are not packed over top of each other so there's some privacy for all. The grounds are maintained well, bathrooms are clean, staff is friendly. My only complaint is that the firewood is over priced. Not all families can afford that cost.

with the trails and both lakes its the best campground! clean bathrooms, heavily treed sites with firepits make it seem more secluded

I love this place, if you have dogs it's paradise for them; if you want tranquility and despair a little this is the best place

Super nice campsites with lots of space. Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe are in walking distance. As in any campground the campfire smoke and generator noise is an annoyance.

Amazing setting! From the moment you check-in with the amazing staff at the kiosk (thank you Patty, Diane & Victoria), to the well maintained campsite and bathroom, and don't forget the wonderful hosts (Ted & Ursula), you will have an incredible stay!! Fellow campers are always friendly and helpful.
I've camped here 3 times and have loved it every time.
LISTEN TO THE ADVICE!! NO FOOD IN TENTS OR VEHICLES & USE THE BEAR BOX!!

I camp at FLL campground every year. The lake is a short walk and Pope Beach and the Tallac Historic Site are just across the highway. It is clean and quiet and I love it up there. I also like the fact you are open until mid October rather than close after Labor Day.
