We love camping at Fallen Leaf Campground. So close to Lake Tahoe, perfect for biking and hiking. Enjoying the water and the views of the lake.

Showers were private. The only drawback is the water, the temp is preset and can’t be adjusted. Nice trails throughout whether on bikes or walking. Most spots are paved and level. Staff at the front are helpful and free WiFi available at the front.

The campsite was very clean. We had no problems with bears. Our biggest issue was with one of the park Rangers. She was extremely rude to several people in our party. My other issue was there was no overnight extra parking lots. So if you had too many vehicles on your site, you had to pay $10 or you could park in a parking lot but only until 7 o’clock. This was the first time we had ever encountered something like that at a campsite. Very disappointing.

Beautiful location very close to lake, lot's of easy single track bike trails paved and unpaved, nice walking distance to Baldwin Beach, the scenery is spectacular.

Fallen Leaf is a beautiful campground near all the amenities of Lake Tahoe. We stayed in spot 105 with a 30 ft travel trailer. VERY VERY TIGHT to get in but once you are the spot is very nice with a meadow around you. Staff was excellent but you get different answers from different people. There were a few bears around but that is normal for Tahoe especially around September. Look forward to our next trip there!

Fallen leaf campground was absolutely beautiful, the sites have quite a lot of space to spread out and feel comfortable, the campground hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable, the bathroom facilities were clean and well stocked, the campground itself was very clean and well kept, I loved the lakefront being so close to the campground. There are beautiful trails to walk on and really nice beaches where people were swimming and laying in the sun, just relaxing or out on the water. We had site number 202 and it was a really good size, backing up on the meadow. The only downside was that it was very windy. The only thing I wish was different was that the bear boxes locked with about 1/2 inch of metal and it would’ve been very easy for a bear to break in and get the food if it wanted to. All of the bear boxes at the campground would like this and we found that even at places nearby, they used the same kind of bar boxes. I’ve been too many other Tahoe campgrounds where the bear boxes were a lot sturdier and stronger with a double layer of protection, but these were not and bears are extremely strong and very determined so I felt like if a bear had come to visit, it wouldn’t have been difficult for them to get into our food in there.

Bear!!!! A bear visited our campsite at dusk! I threw a rock at the rim of the metal fire ring, and it made a loud clang that scared him off. Overall, this site is big and far away from the neighbors. No one is coming to help you if there’s a bear at your campsite. There’s also no shade.

Public restrooms were cleaner than prior years. New operator has changed entrance procedures, and have eliminated dual lane access, that for 30yrs have allowed returning (already checked-in) guest to re-enter the grounds either out hav8ng to wait 30+minutes in a single lane while other register. Seems sooo silly to change this. Some camp sites are in serious need of repair/maintenance. Our site 54 was so unlevel and broken apart, took us an hour just to find a spot that we had enough lumber and leveling blocks to get the trailer level and stable.
