What Guests Are Saying
Cottonwood Campground offers a stunning location for stargazing and has clean, well-maintained restroom facilities with running water. Many visitors enjoyed the peaceful, quiet atmosphere and nearby hiking trails, making it a great spot for outdoor activities. Some challenges included noise from nearby restrooms, close campsites, and limited parking options, but overall, guests had a positive experience and expressed a desire to return.

This is supposed to be a dark sky park. RV campers persistently had outside lights on at night. Rules regarding the size of RV's were not enforced. There were many long 5th wheel trailers with side outs open that encroached the narrow right of way through the sites.

Our place at the campground was like a parking spot in front of the bathroom and that’s it. Our pickup camper, 20 ft long, almost didn’t fit. Glad we only spend one night there. No soap and no paper to wash our hands.

It would have been great but the people in the campground across from us were partying until 2:30 in the morning. We had to pick up our camp and move to another available site to get away from the loud music.

Great park, clean campground, less people here than anywhere in the park.

Online booking was very convenient and allowed me to book campsites in advance. The campsite was excellent and the availability of water was essential as we were cycling through the park. We hiked one of the local trails and attended the evening Interpretive program. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

Cottonwood Campground is a great base for seeing Joshua Tree. Only about 7 mi in from the 10 Freeway with a visitors center at the turnoff. The sites are close but feel spacious and provide some separation from your neighbors. Water and a nice bathroom make it an easy camp experience. A fantastic loop trail of about 2.8 mi starts in the campground and drops you at the Cottonwood Springs trailhead which is just down the street a little from the campground. Even on a long weekend, it did not feel too busy as compared to other areas in the park.
