What Guests Are Saying
Cottonwood Campground offers a stunning location for stargazing and has clean, well-maintained restroom facilities with running water. Many visitors enjoyed the peaceful, quiet atmosphere and nearby hiking trails, making it a great spot for outdoor activities. Some challenges included noise from nearby restrooms, close campsites, and limited parking options, but overall, guests had a positive experience and expressed a desire to return.

Best time to be here is on the weekdays. Weekends the campground is full of young groups who come to party, BUT they do turn it off by 10 pm. I am happy to see kids out enjoying camping and nature, but weekends are much louder and smokefilled than the weekdays. Beautiful location, hikes to Mastodon peak and Palm Oasis are good day walks. It is very far from anything else in the park, but we love it that way.

The facility has everything a camper needs but there are some limitations. I do not recommend the pull through sites because they have a slight slope and are not comfortably wide if you have a slide out on the drivers side.

This is the best campground inside Joshua tree NP.
It's conveniently tucked away from all the busy attractions on the upper side of the park.
Bunch of flowers, bees, hummingbirds and even coyotes howling at night.
Loved it .

Very friendly and helpful campground hosts! Made me feel very welcome. Many thanks.
My not five is because of usual campground problems--campfire smoke, noisy neighbors.
Beautiful spot.

Great campground there is a restroom and drinking water available. If you are car/tent camping a shade shelter is useful as there is no real shade from any trees or brush here. Usually a cool breeze comes through in the afternoon.
