This place…ahem, ROCKS! Sites are a wee bit small for my 23’ travel trailer and the sign for the loop with my site was hiding behind an overgrown bush. We still had a fantastic time in the park. Excellent astrophotography opportunities, cool creatures slinking around the dark and other worldly sunrises! pOW!💥

Site 78 - lots of space and away from the busy part of the campground. There're a couple trails that end up on this site, so people kinda awkwardly shuffle on the edges. But the site is so big it doesn't matter. Has a nice big rock ledge next to it to meet sunrise. Joshua Tree is a magical place.

We stayed at campsite 18 on a weekend. The campsite was on a loop road so traffic was minimal, and the site itself was far from the road so it was private and peaceful. We enjoyed our one-night stay!

Jumbo Rocks is located near many of JT's popular locations and trails, so it's a popular destination. The park employees keep the campground in great shape, and most of the campers are very chill. September is summer break for SoCal residents, with many seasonal visitors gone back to Arizona and kids back to school, so it's a great month to go to the beach and to national parks like JT. I was there midweek and there were no issues with loud partiers keeping people awake. That said, there were a couple instances when drivers (one in a car and one in an RV) went very fast through the park, way above the 15 mph speed limit. Dangerous for other campers and the year-round wildlife residents. This time I stayed at site 80, which was plenty roomy for one camper with a tent. Previously I've stayed at site 18, which felt like it was closer to my neighbors, a little less private. It's easy to recommend Jumbo Rocks, with its gorgeous scenery and hikes during the day, and abundant beautiful starry nights.
