Perfect time of year to visit! This was a long-awaited first time visit that did not disappoint. Beautiful wildflowers, and stunning rocks/geology. Even got a visit from a hummingbird! The campground was great and Rangers/Ranger Volunteers were pleasant and helpful. Great 5 night stay, thank you.

Nice campground. Good boulders for hiking behind the campground. The campsites are really close together. Are campsite only allowed 1 car so we had to have one person park at the motel 6 outside of the park. There is no water so bring plenty of water.

Jumbo Rocks campground is sooooooo cool. Tent camping amongst the jumbo rocks and watching the bright stars was a terrific experience.

We love jumbo rocks camping. While parking is road tight and there are a lot of campsites, we never felt crowded. And the hiking around the campground is fantastic. Jumbo Rocks is centrally located to so many of the parks major features. There is no water anywhere nearby, (15+ miles to the west entrance station) but we brought plenty and did not want.

The campsites at Jumbo Rock were clean and spacious. While the campground is large it did not feel over crowded. Although it was essentially 'sold out' there were still empty sites, although there is no way to access them as you must book ahead and there is no cell service within most areas ofbthe park. Many were presumably no shows or last minute cancelations. I found it frustrating that I could find no campsites bookable for two nights even a month ahead of the booking and I am guessing that the very lenient cancelation policy means that people book blocks way ahead and then cancel at the last minute if they don't work for them. This really makes camping less accessible for the broader community in my view. However I do recognize that there are some first come first serve campgrounds in the park for last minute camping. We were not the only campers that were forced to book two sites for one night each to get a two night stay!

It was cool but a lot of the campsites are too close together. We loved the ranger program and the Ryan ranch trail was cool.

Been to Joshua Tree many times. This is the first time camping at Jumbo Rocks campground. Loved the camp site, never camping elsewhere again.
First time doing offroad trail to Eureka Peak. Highly recommended, beautiful view.
First time offroading, the trail was very easy, not to long of a ride to the top.
Looking for a not so crowded place, visit Eureka Peak.

It was the second time I camped at Joshua Tree NP. This time was at Jumbo Rock while the first time was at Cottonwood. It was a great experience, with great views. I saw many cactus flowers. I just wished it was a dark night to see the Milky Way.
I will definite go back again.

Loved our site, only drawback was being right at the entrance. This is a very busy campground and there was a lot of activity with people driving in and out, plus using the dumpsters right by us. We had an incredible, shaded picnic area and great rocks to scramble around on at the site. Would book again!

One of the coolest campgrounds I’ve stayed in. Great scenery and trails right through the campground. I would definitely stay here again but wish there was access to drinking water.

General
- Download the NPS app prior to visiting the park – trail maps and more!
- Reservations are required year round and can be made the same day or up to 6 months in advance.
- A no-show customer is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out (noon) time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. Staff will hold a campsite until check-out time (noon) on the day following the arrival date.
- The park allows six people, two vehicles and three tents per site, however, some sites are small and may not accommodate the maximum number of people and vehicles. See Site Details for specifics. There is no overflow parking. Trailers count as a vehicle.
- Please call 760-367-5554 for information.
- $30 per vehicle entrance fee is in addition to camping fee.
- There are no electric, water or sewer hook-ups available at individual campsites; nor is a dump station located nearby. Potable water is available at the Oasis Visitor Center, 11 miles away.
- Generator use is permitted only from 7–9 am, noon–2 pm, and 5–7 pm.
- Pets are not allowed on trails but are welcome in the campground, on any dirt road or within 100 feet of any road. Pets must be on a leash no more than 6 feet long at all times. Pets may not be left unattended or tied to an object; leaving pets in unattended vehicles is strongly discouraged – especially on warm days.
- Don’t Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood near the park and burning it on-site, and do not use park vegetation, living or dead, for fuel.
- All organized events require a special use permit and must be held in designated areas; contact the Special Park Use Coordinator, jeannie_wilson@nps.gov.
- Cancelling a Reservation: Customers may cancel their reservation prior to arrival both on-line and through the call center. A $10 service fee will be withheld from any refund for a cancellation. Depending on when you cancel in relation to your arrival day, it may be considered a late cancellation. Late Cancellation Fees: A customer who cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation). Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be subject to an additional service fee.
- STOP THE SPREAD OF INVASIVE SPECIES. Remove plants, seeds, animals, and mud from boots, gear, pets, and vehicles. Clean your gear before entering and leaving the recreation site. Stay on designated roads and trails, and follow local guidelines for firewood. For more information visit the National Invasive Species Information Center.
- FIRE BAN fire restriction are currently in effect that prohibit charcoal fires, wood-burning fires, and charcoal grills. NO Fires! Only gas or propane stoves are permitted. Starting June 15, ending October 1st of every year.
