Beautiful park and camping spot that is perfect for a rooftop tent. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is that we were unlucky that a group of students stayed in the spot opposite to us and kept us and other guests up all night with music, loud talking, and incredibly rude behaviour. Wish there were some park rules that would be enforced to keep this beautiful spot nice and quiet during the night.

Pros: Jumbo rocks campground was perfect to explore nearby attractions and the campground was spacious in terms of the table/grill being far from the paved parking spot so ample room for a tent.
Cons: For site 095 specifically, it is located right next to the bathroom which may be a pro to some but a con to us. Numerous of individuals, adults and children, were too lazy to walk an extra 20 feet around our campsite and instead cut through multiple times a day and even throughout the night making it impossible to sleep in our rooftop tent. Additionally, at this site you can hear people's conversations late at night, not just your immediate neighbor, but like 5+ camp sites away word for word.

We did not realize campers and vehicles all park along the road parallel to your camp spot. Definitely pay attention to the length allotted for each site as we barely fit in ours. Also our neighbors were parked across the line when we arrived making our spot appear much smaller than we thought. They moved and were very nice about it.

Quiet, clean, and spacious campsites. 72 had a big wide space to pitch several tents and close enough but not next to the toilet. Great!!!

First time visiting Joshua Tree and campsite 52 at Jumbo Rocks was absolutely perfect for my daughter and I. Spacious compared to some of the other sites we saw around camp and appreciated the shade of the Joshua Tree during the hot parts of the day (spring time). Lots of spots to explore nearby and conveniently close to the bathroom.

The weather was pretty bad, but that’s not your fault. We camp in a van and when we left for the day we left our levelers and chocks. Someone stole them while we were gone. Also, not your fault, but really disappointing. I think it’s unfortunate that a hiking trail goes right down the main road. We were very close to the entrance, so there were a lot of people walking by ALL DAY. The park is beautiful but this wasn’t one of our favorite National Park campgrounds…

General

- Reservations are required year round and can be made the same day or up to 6 months in advance.
- A no-show customer is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out (noon) time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. Staff will hold a campsite until check-out time (noon) on the day following the arrival date.
- The park allows six people, two vehicles and three tents per site, however, some sites are small and may not accommodate the maximum number of people and vehicles. See Site Details for specifics. There is no overflow parking. Trailers count as a vehicle.
- Please call 760-367-5554 for information.
- $30 per vehicle entrance fee is in addition to camping fee.
- There are no electric, water or sewer hook-ups available at individual campsites; nor is a dump station located nearby. Potable water is available at the Oasis Visitor Center, 11 miles away.
- Generator use is permitted only from 7–9 am, noon–2 pm, and 5–7 pm.
- Pets are not allowed on trails but are welcome in the campground, on any dirt road or within 100 feet of any road. Pets must be on a leash no more than 6 feet long at all times. Pets may not be left unattended or tied to an object; leaving pets in unattended vehicles is strongly discouraged – especially on warm days.
- Don’t Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood near the park and burning it on-site, and do not use park vegetation, living or dead, for fuel.
- All organized events require a special use permit and must be held in designated areas; contact the Special Park Use Coordinator, jeannie_wilson@nps.gov.
- Cancelling a Reservation: Customers may cancel their reservation prior to arrival both on-line and through the call center. A $10 service fee will be withheld from any refund for a cancellation. Depending on when you cancel in relation to your arrival day, it may be considered a late cancellation. Late Cancellation Fees: A customer who cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation). Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be subject to an additional service fee.
- STOP THE SPREAD OF INVASIVE SPECIES. Remove plants, seeds, animals, and mud from boots, gear, pets, and vehicles. Clean your gear before entering and leaving the recreation site. Stay on designated roads and trails, and follow local guidelines for firewood. For more information visit the National Invasive Species Information Center.
- FIRE BAN fire restriction are currently in effect that prohibit charcoal fires, wood-burning fires, and charcoal grills. NO Fires! Only gas or propane stoves are permitted. Starting June 15, ending October 1st of every year.
