About Boise Creek

Boise Creek Campground is nestled between Brush Mountain and Brannan Mountain in northern California's vast Six Rivers National Forest. The campground sits under a canopy of large Pacific madrone evergreen, Douglas fir and California bay trees, less than two miles from the small mountain town of Willow Creek, known as the Bigfoot capital of the world. Fishing, swimming and whitewater rafting are all close by in the popular Trinity River.

Our campsite had plenty of room and good ground for two tents and overall the campground facilities are well-maintained. There is some road noise from Hwy 299 nearby but not to the point it was bothersome. Boise Creek is less than 2-miles from Willow Creek and convenient for meals and other supplies you may need for your stay.

My site was paid for online, however it was not reserved for me once I arrived, so another camper assumed the spot was open and took over the site.

We reserved spot 10, in the back and on a little hill. I think it’s the best spot as it’s furthest from the road. I’m hard of hearing so the highway didn’t bother me, but my partner heard it but also said it’s not a dealbreaker and would stay again. Campground wasn’t full and a few folks came for some one night stays over the few days we were there. Overall very quiet, most folks take off for the river for the day. Toilets stink but that will happen when 10 people are using it the same one lol. The trail to the river was too long for us and our dogs but lots of river spots to drive to all around. We ended up at the river in Hawkins bar, nice, quiet spot with fishermen. Grabbed some goodies and fresh bbq from the Salyer store just up the road, past Willow Creek. Easy to go grab ice or other supplies if needed. It was poison oak season but the main trials around the campground and the campsite itself were pretty cleared of it. Just don’t go romping around. We say 8/10 and would go again. It’s also dog friendly on leashes and we had decent cell service (Verizon)

There’s not much to do there, the nearby town of Willow Creek is cute and worth going to and the hike to the creek is nice, but there is a lot of poison oak so be careful.
Be cautious when pulling out of the Campground because there is a blind turn on the road.
There was no problem in the Campground, but there was no host and there were only two campers including us.
Water was available.

We stayed here for a night and enjoyed it. The grounds were clean, water spots provided throughout the area, covered trash cans, and an outhouse to use the toilet. The outhouse was spacious and always had toilet paper. Aside from being close to the main road the area was pretty quiet.

BUT, their current issue with POISON OAK isn’t great. It prevented us from wanting to take the little hike that is on the grounds. So you have to be very careful because there is definitely poison oak around (luckily they do let this be known on the bulletin board there as well). So if you have a dog or little kids who may not be as careful or aware, that might be an issue. But for $10 a night ($18 with online booking fee) it really is a great deal to stay here. Will definitely keep it on my list.

Campsites were large and clean, bathrooms were fairly clean, and the hike down to the creek was well-worth the steep climb back up. I would definitely return.

Easy to find and set up with solid picnic tables and a fire pit. Average cell service and a cleanish toilet. There is very little privacy between campsites and extreme road noise due to the proximity to the road. The parking for site 4 was pretty difficult as it was angled to enter from the opposite direction of the one way road entrance.

A good site! Restrooms were clean. There's virtually no privacy, but it wasn't loud from other campers. Lots of road noise as it's right next to a highway. LOTS of poison oak on the trails - some were completely inaccessible because it was growing over them. Wouldn't recommend coming here to hike and access the river if you're allergic to poison oak.
