What Guests Are Saying

Timber Creek Campground in Rocky Mountain National Park offers a peaceful experience with ample tree cover for privacy and well-organized facilities. Campers appreciated the informative nightly ranger programs and the campground's scenic location near the Colorado River. However, some noted a lack of flexibility with amenities like personal shower tents and concerns about the reservation system, which can lead to empty sites. Overall, visitors enjoyed the natural beauty and friendly atmosphere of the campground.

Comfortable campground and campsite. This was a quick overnight on the way to another destination, and we enjoyed staying here for a few hours.

Pretty quiet campground. Did trails nearby so were able to stay on west side Grand lake close enough to get supplies.

I am very satisfied with my experience here overall. I loved site C68. I loved it way more than A7. There's a lot of trees for privacy at C68. The campground is close to lots of trails for Moose sightings (very early morning!) and Miner's Pass. Only thing i may suggest is the firewood and ice vendor stay an extra hour for those coming back late from a day full of adventure. And also fix the soap dispensers in the bathroom. I would totally camp here again!

We loved camping at Timber Creek Campground. Our kids really enjoyed all of the ranger programs along with the short walk to the Colorado River. Gorgeous views of the Never Summer Mountains and lots of wildlife including moose and elk.

Campsite itself is beautifully situated on the West side of the park near the Visitor Center. This particulate campsite (C loop, 66), is close to the bathroom but not right next door; just easily accessible through a small tree path.

TLDR: Site is beautiful, but this was NOT a quiet campsite the vast majority of our stay. Great location, bring earplugs.

People treated the campgrounds like a normal party zone with little regard for their neighbors. Between the constant door shutting (past 10pm quiet hours), the loud talking around 1am, and the constant crying of children, any hope of a peaceful experience was shattered. Not to mention the fools with the oversized RV showing up at 9pm and yelling for 35 minutes at each other as they struggle to park their vehicle.

The bathrooms themselves are actually a side-step from vault toilets. I'd rather 4x vault toilet housing rather than these ultra-cramped bathrooms. The only benefit is the running water and the sink outside. But the bathrooms, at least for the mens, were quite disgusting.

The Ranger Talks were fantastic. Highly suggest going to them every night - lots of fun and the rangers really care for the park and their role within it. More people would benefit from thinking outside their own small box and looking at the larger impact their choices have in the world around them.

This is not a reflection of the site itself, but the people within it. The site and grounds are lovely, but next time we'll be looking for a much quieter, smaller grounds.
