Fantastic camp host. Found me a more suitable site than I had reserved. He certainly didn't need to go out of the way like that. Site he recommended was fantastic. Very clean bathrooms, I appreciated the on-site water.

Trappers Lake and the surrounding area is incredible and so remote. This campground leaves a little to be desired by way of privacy compared to other national forest campgrounds, but Shepherd's is def the best in Trapper's and the most spacious. We were considering just driving in without a reservation to stay at one of the other campgrounds nearby, but were glad we didn't. The others felt smaller and cramped, and unsurprisingly the good sites were taken. Site 11 at Shepherds is ideal for many tents and a double wide semi-level driveway, though there are no views. I'd absolutely stay here again! The host Tim was the best and had taken immaculate care of the grounds.

Host Tim was proactive in seeing that we did not have to change sites from one night to the next. He gets an A+ in our book.

Lovely quiet campground. The pit toilet was one of the cleanest I've ever had to use. The campground host was super friendly and helpful. Would love to stay here again. Highly recommend sites 6-9. Good views and great space.

I hate to share this with anyone else…but Shepherds Rim is our new favorite campground in CO. Our site (11) was nicely shaded and the campground is very quiet. There are many hiking trails to choose from out of (or easy walk from) the campground - the Carhart Trail around Trappers Lake is beautiful! Best of all - campground host Tim is awesome!

Beautiful location, campsites well spaced, friendly and accommodating camp host, spotless bathrooms, easy hike from campground to Trappers Lake so it's not necessary to drive to it. Other easy hikes from the campground. Potable water available at several spigots. They have an RV Dump Station we found out when left. One vehicle restriction per campsites can be limiting.

Nicely laid out campsites and Tim, the host does an excellent job managing the campground, making several rounds daily . The area has many interconnected trails for hiking.

This campground felt new, at least the bathroom is. That said, I had the entire place to myself. There wasn't even a host present. Amazing sounds at night of coyotes and elk. There is no service here. I recommend adding a T-Satellite plan for $10/mo to your phone before heading to the Flat Tops Wilderness.
