Silver Thread Basecamp

Silver Thread Basecamp is a long name for a very nice RV campground. We stayed there a week. The staff were all kind, courteous and very helpful. Having access to the Rio Grande is wonderful! The grounds have many tall cottonwoods that create shade and mitigate noise. And for as close as the campground is to the highway there is surprisingly little highway noise because of the trees and it being below the highway in the flood plain. The RV spaces are ample, a bit roomier than most other RV campgrounds. The bathrooms are very clean and were never crowded despite the campground being nearly full. The campers were courteous and mostly were friendly and talkative. Quiet hours were honored. Even during the day when we were around there was little in the way of noise. Overall Silverthread Basecamp is a quality RV campground with solid staff and is worth pursuing if you’re camping around South Fork, Colorado.

This rv park is situated right outside of South Fork Colorado. The back in spaces are pretty tight but the hosts are friendly and helpful. We had 30 amp that was plenty in the cool weather. Bathroom and showers were clean and roomy. Would stay here again. Saw a bear 2 evenings in a row. Right on the River

We spent 7 nights there in our travel trailers. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, the river view and spacious camping pull through spot. They even called the fire chief to double check if we could have a campfire due to dry conditions. The gift shop is very cute, has souvenirs with their name on them which I enjoy when I travel. It was located in a convenient place for our adventures during the week. We appreciated that they were vigilant about the speed limit, keeping everyone safe. Thanks for the memories!

We rented a wagon for my birthday weekend. Such a unique and fun stay! We had most of the amenities of home...but in a covered wagon! It was a nice spacious campground with mature trees, right on the river. Friendly staff! The bath house was clean and everything was well kept. Would 100% recommend this to friends and family (& already have multiple times!). I should also mention that we own a large camper... But we came for the wagon experience. It was so nice to just jump in the daily driver and just load up food & clothes and take off. No hauling, no expensive diesel fills, no leveling the camper... just relaxation!

Very nice park. Sites are spacious. It has a rustic look with modern amenities. The covered wagons add a nice touch. A short 2 minute walk to the river adds to the experience. My dogs loved the Bark Park which is totally suitable for small dogs, no opportunity for escape.
My only complaint is walking up stairs to get to the laundry room but that’s because I have old knees!
