Campground is well shaded, but too close to others. With that said, noise is an issue whether it’s from you or your neighbors. Kayaking was nice and well priced rentals. Hiking was disappointing since the boardwalk is still in disrepair.

4 stars for check-in process. Came on a Sunday and waited in the long line of cars for over 50 minutes. Needs to be a separate check-in process for people with paid for reservations. The grounds are well maintained. Slight road noise during the day, but next to nothing at night. Bathrooms are decent and pretty clean for a campground. Running water, plenty of toilet paper and soap. Next to no bugs inside. Campsite (I stayed at 54) nice layout. Clean fire ring and grill. Clean and large bear box. Sturdy, clean picnic table. Plenty of spots for tent setup. Could fit a 30ft RV. The Spring is beautiful. Bring a paddle board or canoe to really experience it. Will be back!

The Timucuan Trail is closed down and has been for quite some time now. Disappointing as we love to hike and go out onto the docks and even fish. Also the bathrooms were not very well taken care of at all this time. The partitions to the stalls were visibly dirty. I don't think the floors got done for several days in a row. There was mud from the rain tracked into the bathrooms and trash that was overflowing that needed to be taken out. There was no hot water to wash dishes with on the B loop. And the dish washing area was in serious need of a wipe down in both B and C loops. I have stayed many times before, but this was the worst I have seen the bath house areas. Otherwise, the stay was fabulous! We love Alexander Springs. It is so beautiful. Just really needed some assistance in those bathrooms, and we want our Timucuan Trail back!

Alexander Springs Recreation Area is located along County Road 445 in the northeast corner of Lake County between Astor and Altoona, Florida.
From I-75, take Highway 40 east through Ocala and Silver Springs approximately 40 miles to Highway 19. Go south on Highway 19 approximately 5 miles to Country Road 445. Go east on 445 for 5 miles to the campground.
From I-95, take the Ocala/Silver Springs Exit (Highway 40) west for approximately 35 miles to Highway 19. Go south on Highway 19 approximately 5 miles to County Road 445. Go east on 445 for 5 miles to the campground.
Alexander Springs Recreation Area is accessible via State Road 40, which is approximately 15 miles to the north. US Highway 441 is also nearby, providing additional access to the area.

- Generators cannot be operated.
- Caution is advised with pets due to alligator presence.
- Floats in the swimming area should be limited to under 60 inches in width.
- The boardwalk is closed due to damage.

- Campsites can accommodate 2 tents, 2 vehicles, and 5 people maximum.
