I go often for day passes, solo or with my bf. I always feel so welcome and meet the coolest people. Luis at the front desk is amazing! Very kind, helpful and informative. The rest of the staff is so accommodating and friendly too.

Do not book here if you have a busy or unpredictable schedule or live in an area with bad weather. We had a reservation and, due to severe snow in our area, physically could not travel. We called ahead and spoke to a staff member who was kind and understanding and advised us to call back in the morning to speak with the manager.

That’s where everything went downhill.

The manager canceled our reservation before even speaking to us, then was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional on the phone. We understood that we booked a non-refundable rate — we weren’t even asking for a refund. We simply asked to reschedule or find any reasonable solution. She refused to help in any way and eventually hung up on us.

So if you enjoy giving a business your money just to be disrespected and blown off, this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay far away.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Welcoming, Joyful LGBTQ+ RV Retreat in Central Florida

Bella and I had a marvelous two-day stay at Sawmill LGBTQ Resort, and it was exactly the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, breathe deeply, and stay a little longer.

From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and comfortable. We were assigned a great RV spot—level, spacious, and well maintained—and were lucky to be surrounded by super friendly neighbors who quickly turned into new traveling friends. The sense of community here is real and heartfelt.

The natural setting is beautiful and peaceful, perfect for exploring nature, walking with Bella, and enjoying Florida’s outdoors in a relaxed, judgment-free environment. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with friends, Sawmill offers a rare blend of privacy, connection, and inclusivity.

As an LGBTQ+ traveler who spends a lot of time on the road, it’s refreshing to find a place that truly feels like a safe, affirming resort—not just a campground. The atmosphere is friendly, respectful, and easygoing, making it simple to strike up conversations or enjoy quiet time on your own.

This was our first visit, but it definitely won’t be our last. Bella and I will absolutely be returning.

Highly recommended for:

LGBTQ+ RV travelers

Solo travelers looking for community

Nature lovers

Anyone seeking a welcoming, inclusive Florida RV destination

Sawmill LGBTQ Resort is a true gem in Dade City. 🌈🚐🐾

Here’s the updated version with all the new details:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We spent 5 days and 4 nights in a cabin at Sawmill Campground, and our experience was fantastic. We visited over Thanksgiving, and their feast was truly magnificent. The regular campers brought dishes that felt like cherished family recipes — and you could see how proud they were to share them. It created a real sense of community and warmth.

The weather was cold during our stay — lows in the upper 30s and highs in the mid-60s — which made it perfect for gathering around a wood fire and enjoying the crisp air. We brought our own food and cooked all our meals in our outdoor setup, which made the experience even more special.

Special mention to Lenny and Ace, who were incredibly welcoming, and to the sweet housekeeper from Hawaii — her kindness really stood out. The staff and regulars together make the campground feel like home.

Even though we cooked outside, it’s worth noting that the campground has a full poolside restaurant and multiple bars for anyone who wants to dine out or enjoy the nightlife.

Our cabin was cozy, the atmosphere was friendly and lively, and the service everywhere was excellent. We highly recommend Sawmill Campground and would happily return for another getaway!
