What Guests Are Saying

River Forest Group Site offers plenty of space for RVs and has clean bathroom facilities. While there were some issues with warm shower water and limited fishing access, the campground's public areas are well-maintained, and visitors enjoyed a fantastic experience, especially over Thanksgiving weekend. Many guests express a desire to return in the future.

Such a beautiful and amazing campsite along the St. John's river. The campground was so spacious, had an amazing dining pavilion with electricity and upgraded bathhouses. The campsite hosts Mitchell and Diane kept the grounds in fantastic shape and were so helpful during our stay. I highly recommend this site for your next group camping.

The site was beautiful, but the current hosts on site were not good. They have a dog and greeted us with their dog off leash. They said we either need to have our dogs on leash or under control. That was not a problem at all, and even understandable. Then the moment one of our guests showed up with a dog, the hosts came back over and said that all dogs have to be on leash since they have 2 cats roaming the property. The male host also kept going through our camp site at odd times, and even came over at 8pm to lecture us on how to bag up the garbage from the 1 garbage can in the pavilion for the morning. We felt we had no privacy and were very uncomfortable with the male host. We had forest rangers camping with us, and they were more upset about the hosts than anyone since they know what hosts should be like. We have all camped at numerous sites, and have never been made to feel so uncomfortable by a host as we did at this site. We would recommend this site to anyone once the current male host is not there anymore.

What a great site for group camping! My church group goes there twice each year and we love it! St. Francis hiking trail nearby, boat ramp nearby. Right on the St. John's River. Secluded but not too far out. The screened pavilion with electricity is awesome! I would love to be camp host there some day!

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
