This is the friendliest COE we have been to! First time here but it felt as though we were returning family. Check in was easy and very friendly. Park is meticulously maintained. Camp Hosts are visible throughout the day and friendly. Not too far out of town but far enough to be very quiet and dark!! Hosts exceeded expectations to ensure our stay was very pleasant. Observing the locks in action was an added bonus. Will be making future reservations!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Our stay at Ortona South Campground was absolutely fantastic in every way. The spacious sites provided ample room for our camper, and the level concrete pad made setup a breeze. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, we enjoyed the peaceful ambiance and felt completely immersed in nature.
The campground's cleanliness, especially the bathroom and shower facilities, was impressive, contributing to a comfortable stay. Additionally, the easy-to-use dump station and well-maintained electric and water hookups added convenience to our camping experience.
We appreciated the thoughtful layout of the campground, which allowed plenty of space and shade for our large dogs to relax in. The grounds were meticulously maintained, creating a pleasant environment for leisurely walks and relaxation.
The campground hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. Safety was never a concern, and we felt secure at all times.
Exploring the locks and observing the diverse fish and wildlife added an extra dimension of enjoyment to our trip. And when the sun set, gathering around the campfire was the perfect way to end the day.
Moreover, the campground's proximity to a store came in handy for any forgotten essentials, ensuring a stress-free experience. Overall, Ortona South Campground exceeded our expectations, and we already booked our next stay!!

We enjoyed a peaceful weekend with a constant breeze off the river. Felt like we had the place almost to ourselves. Beautiful stars to see at night at this very well maintained and taken care of campground.

Quiet and breezy. The sites are well conceived, flat and spacious. My site has shade, although most do not.

Small quiet campground to chill and watch boats go through the lock, The whole process to traverse the state is very cool . One camper wanted to show his political affiliation and thankfully was told to take it down. A public campground is no place to display political paraphernalia.

We travel the country extensively and Ortona Locks South is one of our very favorite campgrounds. It's quiet, clean, friendly and yet not far from good eats if you so desire not to cook at your RV. Camp Hosts are always attentive and grounds are well maintained. Not a bad thing about our little getaway "secret".

The site locations are great, beautiful view of the canal. My only problem was, it stated on the map there were two docks to fish from. There was only one, and to be honest it should be condemned. The pylons were either worn down to nothing or not existent. They also had the locks shut down for viewing due to security issues? This was not disclosed ahead of time.
