Diverse and expansive trail area with lots of parking but is not very busy. Has river, wetlands, forest, and prairie areas; horseback riders come through; there are camping spots. It's really a hidden gem.

From the parking area I was thinking I chose poorly. In fact not till I got to the bridge. Then I fell in love !! Crossing over the bridge changed the hike completely. Wide open spaces giving you beautiful views. The trail was well maintained throughout most of it. Didn't see a lot of wild things but that's ok. Timing is everything.

Great hike. The Levee Loop is about 13 mi of flat terrain. In parts it is a bit soft and sandy, but was well drained after rain the previous day. It would be a great bike trail as well.

A good amount of wildlife including 2 gators, lots of bits, and a cute little garden snake.
