What Guests Are Saying
Fort Pickens Campground offers a beautiful, secluded environment with friendly campers and staff, making it a great spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts. While the campground is well-maintained and features nice updated restrooms, some areas need maintenance, such as uneven asphalt and cleanliness in the showers. Despite minor issues, many visitors express a strong desire to return, enjoying activities like biking, fishing, and exploring the historic Fort Pickens.

We loved our stay at this campground, such a beautiful area. We especially enjoyed the trails from the campground to all point of interest at Ft. Pickens. Beaches on bay and gulf are easily accessible from the campground. They are improving the bath houses.

Camped in C loop. Roads are a little narrow and may take a little maneuvering to get into your site but worth it.

We found the Fort Pickens Campground to be very enchanting and quiet. We liked having a beach on both sides of the island so close and easily accessible. We liked the walking paths for dog walking and visiting historic Fort Pickens so close. The shower facilities were clean and available, even though one of facilities was being renovated. We stayed in site E65 which was equidistant to all 3 facilities. The campsite staff were friendly and the park rangers passing through regularly.
A warning to always carry your National Park Pass with you going in and out of the park during the day or they make you buy another one.

The Rangers and host were very kind and helpful. I had left my shoes on the running board of my van to brush sand off my feet and then got in the van and drove away. Later that day when I returned to the camp ground and realized my shoes were missing I flagged down a ranger that was doing his rounds in a cart. Ge had found one of my shoes already and had dropped it off at their office which was already closed for the day. A little later he came by and presented me with the other shoe that he found in the tall grass beside the road. The next morning he delivered the first shoe he found after retrieving it from the office. Thank you! Thank you!

We love this campground ! We enjoy the white sand beaches just a short walk away. The drive to its wonderful as well. We stop at Joe Patties seafood for great fresh seafoods to cook on our stay. Can't get much better than a day at the beach followed by shrimp cocktails and grouper on the grill. Fort is great and only a mile or so hike. Might checkout the Blue Angels practice schedule to before you schedule your trip. Don't miss there museum.

Being notified about non functioning bathroom 2 weeks before trip was annoying. Our campsite seemed to be the only one without a fire pit, and practically every day we always had new neighbors. Finally the sites were very small and close together, definitely stay away from the interior campsites. I picked mine for the bathroom proximity that was closed lol.

We spent almost two weeks at the Fort Pickens campground. Many of the spots were amongst trees and very pretty. We were close to the bathroom in the non-electric area that had been remodeled. Very clean!
We used the laundry facilities. They were clean too! One of the washers was having issues with the coins but the other machines were fine. If we would have needed more laundry we would have used the app. We were told by other campers how nice it was and even told you on your phone when your machine was done.
We loved how close it was to walk to the beach over the boardwalk. We did this daily. We also enjoyed the many trails that went to the bay side and to the fort. Seeing and hearing all the birds along the way was a bonus. This campground is sooo quiet. The staff and hosts were very friendly and answered our questions.
We hope to come back again!

The campgrounds are great. Fort Pickens is a beautiful spot but the female that was working on 1/29 in the afternoon needs help with customer service. I get taking your job seriously but being an absolutely rude individual isn’t the way to approach your job. Maybe a lesson in being nicer to get your point across would serve her well. I would have given five stars for the landscape alone here and the level sites at the campground but her attitude needs fixing. I usually don’t leave a negative review and find good to everywhere we go on the road but her attitude was a one star.

Great campground. Beach was beautiful. Had a couple of cold days, but that didn’t stop things. Well worth visiting and staying there. The Gulf Island National Seashore was awesome to see. Fort Pickens is worth the visit for sure.
