fort Pickens was an awesome experience... the fort, was one of the best we have visited. Watching the Blue Angels practice was a bonus....spaces in the park (a loop_ were clean and spacious....did not use the bathrooms as they were updating them and we are self contained anyway.

We stayed in loop D and were very pleased with our site, except that we had ants, but that was treatable. The hiking trails were nice, the fort was fascinating but the star was the beaches which were very clean and very sparsely occupied within the park. It was never even close to crowded and we never had anyone located within 100 ft of us. The star of the campground was the showers which were some of the nicest I've ever used. I highly recommend this park!

In loop A at least 15 or more of the sites are unavailable to class A motor homes due to limbs that have grown over the site pads. If the park service would allow trimming of limbs over hanging the parking pads to a height of 14 ft this would open these sites to class A motor homes. I received some paint damage on my Tiffin class A RV due to overhanging limps in our site. (Loop A site 40)

Fort Pickings is one of our favorite places to camp. We love to go fishing there, and there’s plenty of bike riding to do.
Nice restroom’s and showers.

The Campground is kept well, the restrooms were very clean. If a problem occurs it is taken care of in a timely manner. The lots are spacious and all together it is a peaceful environment.

It would be nice if Ft. Pickens had individual sewer hookups. Also, tents should stay on the tent lots and not use up the RV/camper lots

I loved the fact that having paid on line and printed all the paperwork and bring it with me made it so easy the check in into the park, the ranger at the entrance confirmed everything in a few mins and I was good to go inside. My advice: not only do everything digitally but also print a copy of your paperwork just in case your phone doesn't have enough coverage. Bring plenty of electrolytes to avoid dehydration, bring emergency kit for any cut, scrapes, stings (from normal encounters with wild life) and keep in mind there are active ants nest in almost all the camping grounds, keep a uv lotion and shades with you the white beautiful sand will reflect on your eyes and skin, if you are prompt to sunburn wear a hat and also bring a small tent for the beach you will enjoy it!
