What Guests Are Saying
Lake Shore Group Camp is a beautiful and well-maintained facility, ideal for families and scouting groups, with helpful campground hosts. While visitors have generally had great experiences, some concerns were raised about exposed electrical connections in the showers and the need for better shower amenities. Additionally, it is advised not to leave belongings overnight due to the risk of them going missing.

Overall the campground was clean and a great experience. Getting into the campground was a different story. For several days before my reservation I was making calls trying to obtain a gate code and ensure the bathrooms would be unlocked. The day of reservation I contacted the ranger station again and was provided a gate code. However the bathrooms were out of their control. I was directed by the ranger station to go to Alexander springs for a key. Alexander springs is about 25 minute drive so glad I called before driving over. Alexander springs had no clue what campground I was referring to. I decided to drive over the the fore lake campground to see if there was any staff available. I was met by someone inside the gate that was very upset I pulled and was yelling that I shouldn’t have drive through the open gate that said “camp host”. After moving past that she argued I did not have the campground reserved as she had checked just that morning. I have had it booked for 3 months and showed her my email confirmation. She agreed to come over and unlock the bathrooms but it would take her a few hours.
Again, I had reserved and payed for this site several months prior. earlier that week I had received several reservation reminders. How difficult is it to email the gate code and remind the correct personnel to ensure the campground is available. It truly started my weekend getaway with a few stressful hours.
To anyone reading this. Don’t wait and just assume that it is setup and ready for you.

Combination to the gate was wrong even after calling ranger station. Locals just show up and expect to go swimming. Marion county SO clueless on rules. FWC shows up with summer camp to go swimming, bathrooms absolutely disgusting. Bring a gun, you'll need it.

We really like this camp site and have been many times. Good facilities, bathrooms and showers were clean. We usually camp here in January or February when it is cooler, but it was unusually warm the Feb weekend we were there this year. That may have been the cause for an issue we’ve never had before, but the place was infested with ticks and chiggers. Most of us have dozens of chigger bites and one person sat near the lake to fish and was covered in ticks. If there’s any kind of treatment that can be applied to the area it would probably be a big help.
