Aloha,
If you want to feel truly connected with nature, this is the perfect place.
The management is wonderful, and there’s nothing better than walking around barefoot and falling asleep to the sound of the waves.

I rented bungalow for solo trip for 7 days and it was great. Just keep in mind winter is windy and its not dry season if you’re looking for beach days only.
Os - im looking forward to coming back

Kumu Camp was honestly such a great surprise — I truly didn’t expect it to be this good, especially after reading so many mixed reviews.
First of all, the booking process was very easy and clear. You can also call the office to get any additional information you might need — the staff is helpful and responsive. The location is easy to find, and self check-in is simple and convenient.
The camp has everything you need for a comfortable stay: a place to cook, toilets, hot showers, and the ability to charge your phone. Everything is organized in a practical and thoughtful way.
But the most important part — the wide, breathtaking ocean view and the clean beach. Waking up to that view is just incredible.
The campground itself is very clean and well maintained. You can see that it’s taken care of.
Overall, it’s a super place to stay. I would definitely come back.

Stayed here a few weeks ago. I only gave 3 stars for the Rooms, because I camped, so the room comfort/quality was all on me. But the location is great, and the Camp Manager was also very helpful. (She actually gave me some stakes to stake down my RainFly over my Hammock, and let me keep them, which was hugely helpful at other sites on the Island where it was rainier.
I will say, avoid Campsite #13 (easy to remember), as it's somewhat overgrown, and the baby chicks there are pretty territorial. But most of the other sites appeared fine. After my first night at 13, I upgraded to a site right on the Ocean for a few bucks more, and it was worth it.
Campground is generally rustic, but it has working bathrooms and showers, and fresh water, and is right on a lovely beach. It is also apparently more secure/safe than the public campgrounds on the Island, where people apparently might walk off with your stuff. (I was told this by a long-term Kauai resident who was vacationing at the campground.)
I *will* note a couple things. First off, you apparently want to be careful about swimming near the river mouth near the camp, as sometimes run-off from nearby farms can put bacteria in the water there. Another camper told me that he knew two people who caught infections (Staph?) swimming near the river. Just in case, I walked South down the Beach aways, towards the State campground, and had no issues swimming there.
Secondly, not all spots are suitable for hammock-camping. However, the two ocean-front spots on the North end of the Campground are both good for that. And it's nice to be able to lounge in your comfy hammock with an ocean view for $35 a night.
I also didn't experience rain here at all. However, that's apparently also a potential issue in Kauai, especially on the North shore, so be sure to bring a rain fly that will cover your hammock tent. (If nothing else, you may feel the need to block the wind. With Hawaii nights often getting cool in the Winter, especially in a hammock. A bug-net is also a good idea, though I didn't particularly notice many mosquitos at this campground.
Finally, not many large stores on Kauai once you leave Lihue. So good idea to stock up on fruit and snacks (nuts, seed, jerkey, etc.) at the Lihue Costco and Walmart before heading elsewhere.
Also: When renting a car on Lihue, Budget rent-a-car has good prices, but avoid renting even the smallest-sized SUV, as they tend to be larger than you really want for Island roads. And if you want to hit the State Campround on the West side of the Island, get a Jeep or similar rugged 4x4. The 5-mile road there is the worst I ever experienced, and will generally jack up most cars, even if they don't end up getting stuck.

Absolute beautiful place. We got a tent camping site right on the beach. The host was so sweet and helpful they even serve coffee in the am. They have restrooms and showers, a kitchen space and a space to eat or just visit. Everyone was so kind we will definitely come back. They also had Yerts and cabins as well as tent sites. Recommend checking them out!!!

We enjoyed 4 days of camping in Kauai here at Kumu Camp. We had a rooftop camper and reserved a basic camp site. We loved the place. The men’s bathroom was sometimes out of toilet paper - luckily we brought our own.
Hot showers were a huge plus.
The campground is well maintained and is a safe place. It would be a great place to revisit someday with family.
Mahalo to the staff at Kumu.
