We crosscountry skied here in December. My GPS tracker recorded 9.5 miles one way. We found the cabin clean and in order. Vault toilet had plenty of toilet paper and there was more in the kitchen cabinet. The wood stove worked great and kept us fairly warm once we got it going good. There is also a wood cookstove but we didn't use it. The max temp we got our sleeping area to was 60 degrees. The cabin is situated in a pretty meadow with some partial views of distant mountains. We only stayed one night and overall it was a good experience.

A great little cabin. It would be really nice if the locks were of a combination type. That way you could drive directly to Yellowstone or Grand Teton instead of backtracking to Ashton.

This is a great remote cabin, with a locked gate about 1/3 mile up towards the main road. We've booked it winter and summer several times before.
When we arrived at the cabin, there were mountain bikes scattered around the cabin, with people sleeping in the parking zone, and directly behind the cabin, with their things all over the picnic table (food, junk, bear attractants!). We asked them to go, and eventually they woke themselves up enough to pack up slowly and rudely and leave....but it was NOT a good situation. If I'd have come up alone first with our kids, as I was going to, and my husband later, I would have NOT felt comfortable or safe in this situation. The Forest Service needs to post signage all around the cabin space --not just at the road entrance, but at all the trails around, that the cabin is by reservation only.
Other than the first awkward and hostile hour, we had a terrific stay, and enjoyed the cabin.

This is the perfect rough get away place. NO cell service, which isa plus. Lots of privacy and wonderful views. We will be back again and again. The cabin is very nice and very relaxing.
