Lake Point Campground & RV Resort

I will start with the ONE positive about this place. The restrooms. They were clean. Thank you for that. As for the rest, it literally was a stay in hell and although we had a longer reservation and I was meeting my best friends family there as a reunion from two different states, we left early, and headed home.
This place COULD be good for one thing and one thing only. If you are in a camper and you need an overnight stay, where you pull in late and just need a parking lot late. In that case though, you could just use a Walmart parking lot.
I am not a complainer, I’m a trooper, but this was by far my worst camping experience just due to the environment, so I will give credit or lack thereof where it is due. To top it off, we’re not from Idaho, so we booked sight unseen, and there are no refunds or cancellations.
Below I will outline the issues with this place:
1. The lake has green algae and is not swimmable. I called in advance to ask if it was swimmable for dogs and kids and was told without hesitation that it was.
2. It was literally a gravel parking lot wedged between the green algae lake and the freeway(not quiet).
3. The “campsite” was full of ground cover which consisted of a little grass and mostly the small thistles which poke straight into your feet and through your tent. Because of this, the kids could not play there, the dogs could not walk, and I had to pitch my tent in the parking area. (We had a tent and an airstream plus two vehicles).
4. There was dog poop all over that people had not cleaned up. On the road to the bathroom, on the side path. Just dirty and gross.
Some of this could have felt manageable if we were able to hang out together on the beach and get in the water, like we had called about and expected. But, it was 100 degrees and when I go out of my way to call and am told one thing, only to get there find out it was a lie, be prepared for me to be displeased.

Our money was wasted here, we made the best of it because we were with each other, but we will NEVER be back and I want others to know before they arrive that this is not family friendly.
The rest of the park seemed to be year round RV’ers and they got the more “primo” spots.

This place is not as advertised. We called to see if the lake is usable for kids and dogs, was told it was. When we got to the campground we were placed in a parking lot. The area we had to camp in was full of weeds that had stickers on them. My kids couldn't even play in our campsite. Our dogs were constantly in pain with the stickers in their feet and on top of all that there was ticks. The lake that was prominently advertised was not swimable and has green algae. The water is also stagnant. Its a decent overnight stay but DO NOT stay longer. Also the people who live here have the semi good spots they give the campers the sticker weeds and parking lot.

If I could give zero stars I would. Nobody at the office during check-in. Yes we arrived during hours. We rented their newest "luxury" lake side spot. It isn't even a flat piece of ground. Oh yes and luxury means hearing the highway all night. They have a no refund policy and made me pre pay so I also can't go somewhere else. Not that there would be anyone to talk to anyway. The lake is filthy and the maintenance man I finally found was incredibly rude acting like customers are an inconvenience. I feel like I was scammed and my money stolen. I'm writing this review after my first of 8 sleepless nights at this horrible crap hole.

This review is somewhat lengthy my apologies. Wanted to leave this review to maybe prepare others for what to expect if you may be tent camping which was not disclosed to us when we had made our reservations 2 months in advance. There are only really about 3 or 4 tent sites by the river in a very rustic setting. There were no picnic tables or running water and you have to park a ways from your site and pack everything you have into the site. I was glad that I had called the park a few days prior to our arrival to ask if there was running water at the site and she said no, so that would have been good to know! When we arrived after our 10 hour drive, there were 2 tents set up in our camp spot that was assigned to us, not knowing where else to go because the office closes at 5:00 we just used an RV site until the office opened in the morning. After talking to the very nice manager Ricky he more than made the trip and experience at the nice park a very joyful and happy time! We enjoyed the nice lake and fishing and there is a nice trail around the river to walk. We would recommend this place, but call in advance to ask any questions if you are tent camping.

We rented the little cabin on our way to Cathedral Gorge. The cabin was cute, comfortable, perfectly maintained, and well equipped with essentials and more. The cabin has its own bathroom sans shower, so that was very nice.

The people running the resort were very anxious to please. Would stay again.
