Stolle Meadows Cabin is praised for its beautiful scenery and lovely setting, making it a favorite for some visitors. However, several reviews highlight significant cleanliness issues, including a mouse infestation and poor water quality, which detracted from the experience. Despite its charm, guests advise caution regarding hygiene and safety.
Been coming to this cabin for 3 decades! The rental rates doubled this past year from $40 per night to $80. Ridiculous!! Especially since I had to empty the disgusting water from under the sink upon arrival. Love the cabin and area but the rate per night is way too much especially with questionable water from pump, outhouse 20 ft from picnic table??!!, have to clean before and after my stay, this time there was fire wood for the stove - last time there was none!!
$80 per night for no bedding, no plumbing, mice, pre and post cleaning, and chopping ones own wood to stay warm is excessive!!
Stayed 3 nights at this cabin. It was filthy. Riddled with mice. The final night I couldn’t sleep because all I could hear is mice running about. The prior occupant wrote in the ledger that they killed 19 mice in one day. This cabin comes with utensils, pots, pans and an oven. Wouldn’t advise using because of the mice. They say there is drinking water from the pump, but the water is so nasty it would put Flint Michigan to shame. As soon as I got home my healthy dog got so sick she couldn’t not stand up. Two days later we had her put to sleep. The vet said it was likely due to my dog ingesting some kind of poison. I did not see any poison left out.
Probably one of our favorites! We just went and there were mice that kept us up at night! They tried getting into the trash and were leaving droppings on the sink/counters. Kinda a shame for how nice the cabin was!
It was our 17th year at Stolle, so we’re obviously biased. The cabin’s in great shape but could use a few kitchen items, mixing bowls, silverware, a spatula. Make sure to bring a large water container, and fill it up at Warm lake or North Shore lodge as the pump water is barely potable (iron).
Make sure to bring sugar for the hummingbird feeder too.
And keep an eye out for the rare Flying Squirrel!
Goshawks, coyotes, Sandhills, hot springs, lake swimming, star watching, deer, and trees galore!
