We are disappointed we can no longer use our 25 gallon portable tank to drain our gray water at the gray water dump. After about 8 days we have to hook up and drive to a dump station. It is a huge inconvenience after using the gray water dump at the campground for many years. We would gladly schedule at appointment with somebody to observe us when we dump and pay an additional fee for the use of the dump as we do for the electricity. We were informed some campers would drain their black water tanks into the gray water dump. We agree this is unacceptable, but still feel it could be managed with very little effort since we have observed very few campers take advantage of the gray water dump with portable tanks. So that we can more fully understand the reason for this, could somebody get back to us. Also, please let us know if our idea of paying an extra reasonable fee and making an appointment so somebody could observe us is viable. It couldn't take more than a few minutes to do this. We know the campground hosts are observant and competent to be able to assist with this. We have camped at Buffalo since we were children in the late 50's and have always had a good experience. Thank you for your consideration.

This was our first time at Buffalo Campground (Aug 20-24) and plan to come back next year. Nicest Forest Service Campground I have ever been in. We were in C Loop (#18), so we had power hookups. Our camp hosts (Eddie & Janet) were awesome. Not only extremely helpful but our campsite (and the whole loop for that matter) was spotless. The tent sites were raked smooth & flat, the grills & fire pits were cleaned, even the dirt was swept off of the top of the wood trim around the tent sites. The pit toilets were the cleanest I've seen and even had a throw rug on the floor (about the only thing missing was a magazine rack).

There is plenty to do in the area. We kayaked (floated) both the Henry's Fork & Buffalo Rivers. We had our own kayaks but our friends rented theirs locally. We also played golf and ran a marathon in the nearby town of Ashton. No real issues with mosquitos or other insects but that was probably due to the time of year (late summer).
