Very peaceful in late Sept. CoE ranger was very helpful in getting us registered thru recreation.gov. Turkey were plentiful, and I spooked a deer out of its afternoon rest while on the trail.

The drive from Orofino to Dent Acres is a bit of a challenge. But the destination, more then pays off. One of or possibly the best COE campground we have stayed at. Relatively small with 50 campsites spread out over several loops. Very quiet and peaceful. The bathrooms and shower areas are amazingly well maintained and clean.
Elk creek falls trail and town of Elk River were highlights for us. We basically had the trail to ourselves for the entire morning. I mean, we were the only vehicle parked at trailhead going in and coming out.
We will be back in the future and highly recommend the campground.

The area is beautiful and the boating access is wonderful, I wish there was more are for land access to the lake. Maybe there is better access when the lake is full.
The cleanliness of the campground has much to be desired. The lack of trash cans was disappointing because of the size of the campground, having to go to entrance or the boat launch seems ridicules, even with this not being peak season, it was frustrating to deal with trash. I live in Alaska where bear issues are a daily occurrence, so the lack of easy garbage disposal seems concerning. The dumpsters at the boat ramp needed to be emptied and cleaned, the smell was rotten enough it was almost impossible to actually use them.
The woman’s bathrooms were disgusting, the toilets themselves were clean, but the rest of the facility was not.
I think this could be an amazing camping spot, I was just so disappointed.

Nice campground. Would stay there again. The horseshoe pit and playground need a little more attention, but other than that I can’t complain.

It was really nice. They removed the docks when we were out on the boat, I thought they should have posted to let people know
