What Guests Are Saying

The Red Ives Cabin is a fantastic getaway with amazing fishing and essential amenities like a propane fireplace and a full kitchen. While some updates are needed, such as the shower and bathroom faucet, the cabin is clean and better than advertised. However, increased traffic in the area can detract from its serene atmosphere.

Cabin had hot shower, flush toilet, fridge, gas stove, cook wear and utensils. It does not have electricity. Beautiful setting, incredible public resource. Please take care of this place if you go!

Very cute but older cabin. Lovely location across from the St. Joe River. Beautiful place to sit outside, build a fire and watch the stars. Definitely not as clean as I would like but I'm kind of neurotic about filth. There is no electricity but if you run the propane fireplace long enough you will warm the place up. It is very dark inside so bring a lot of lights to brighten the place up. Bring your own bedding and towels. There is plenty of plates and some usable pots and pans (we brought everything). Refrigerator is not great so bring coolers with lots of ice. Overall a stupendous bargain for $100 dollars per night.

This place is amazing and located in an especially fantastic area for direct access to some of the best fly fishing in the country. I've stayed here several times over the years and had a great experience each time. A word of caution though, they got rid of the generator at some point over the past couple years, so you'll need to bring lighting and maybe your own generator (although they do provide a few lanterns, they are difficult to cook by and dinner time can be pretty dark). Also, bring sleeping gear (pillows, sleeping bags, etc.)

The cabin and surrounding area are always nice. The cabin was a bit more dirty (floors) than it has been in the past. Also, some of the pots and pans (including the coffee pots) are really worn out and not usable. It might help for someone to go through and clean some of the older stuff out and replenish.
