I have been camping at Dam West Campground since the 1970s and have never had a bad experience. The grounds have always been well maintained and the hosts & guests have always been friendly. The only problem is, it has been very difficult to get reservations.

If you take your dog make sure it doesn't bark or you will be asked to leave by the rangers. We had to pack up a day early because we went and picked up our dogs Saturday morning. They were on our site for two hours. Barked at strangers that walked up on our site. We had the people leave and the dogs were quiet.
And next we knew we were greeted by a rude park ranger yelling and pointing at the dogs telling us to lock them up in the camper due to complaints of noise or we could leave. So ...we left. Lost a day we paid for. Its a very beautiful camp ground but one we will not return to.

Great spot. It was exactly what we needed. It was clean, quiet and well organized. It was nice to see our firepit cleaned out, after we used it Thursday night. Just wish we could book in advanced. Mostly a lot of misses.

The check in staff are friendly and funny. Rangers came around regularly to check on things. People before us dumped all kinds of food & dog food in grass on our site. They came & cleaned it up for is. The cleaning lady came & thoroughly cleaned bathrooms twice during our 3 night stay. Overall very impressed.

The restrooms are always very clean and well maintained. We camped on a weekend that was a bit rainy, so many of the reservations were cancelled. As such, we were able to show first come first serve and secure a formerly reserved spot. The spots on both sides of us were reservable as well, but were both empty. It was a nice quiet camping weekend with our dogs in a clean camp with a great location.
