What Guests Are Saying
Dam West Campground offers large, clean sites, many with beautiful lake views, and is well-maintained with friendly, helpful staff. Guests appreciate the calm lake for activities like boating and swimming, as well as the nearby town amenities. While there is only one dump station, leading to potential wait times, overall experiences are positive, making it a favorite destination for campers.

Park is beautiful! The hosts are very nice and always helpful. Bath house was very very clean! I like the First Come First Serve sites because we don't always plan ahead and make reservations. The park is located close to town so you can always run and get those forgotten items. The bike trail takes you right across the dam. I feel very safe at Dam West with the Park Ranger, camp hosts and the Sheriff driving through several times a day. Dam West is only a little over an hour from our house. It's our favorite park!!!

Best campground in Illinois and Missouri. The hosts are terrific and able to help, if needed, at any time.

Camp sites had concrete pads which make a cleaner and neater experience. Park Rangers and maintenance personnel were seen periodically driving through the park.

We love Dam West! Biking is great! This time we rented a pontoon for the afternoon from the marina, which was fun. We stayed on site 107. This spot has a very small amount of grass on the patio side, but a huge amount of yard on the electric post side. The next unit in 108 is very close to the patio. The only drawback to the weekend was the neighbor behind us who told us we shouldn’t be using any of the huge grassy area on the post side of our camper - “technically”. We have always had good experiences in the past, though. I wouldn’t choose that site again. Hosts are very friendly!
