The only place I go for camping

The lots were large and well maintained (although the grass needed mowing, which was done on our second day). Could have used some trash dumpsters as the only one was at the entrance to the campground which was inconvenient. I noticed that the playground as pretty basic.

South Sandusky has been our favorite campground at Rend Lake for 20 years, and even more so now. We are especially delighted with the Pin Oak loop. We are old enough to have had our senior lifetime passes for about half of those 20 years and are very grateful for the reasonable price. Full hook-ups are more important to us than they once were!
There are several good restaurants in the area: The Buzz, Seasonings Bistro and Tequila's in Benton and The Mill in Sesser come to mind.
The bike path/hiking trail is a super asset to the Rend Lake area.

South Sandusky Campground is accessible via IL-154, which is approximately 6 miles to the north. I-57 is accessible about 10 miles to the east.

Site capacity
- Camping equipment must be on-site, with a maximum of three tents for one camper, or four tents per site. Sites cannot be reserved for vehicle parking.
