What Guests Are Saying
Thomson Causeway is praised for its beautiful riverside camping, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite among visitors. Campers appreciate the spacious concrete pads, proximity to nature, and stunning sunsets over the Mississippi River. While some concerns were raised about noise from barking dogs and a less-than-friendly host, the overall experience is highly positive, with many planning to return.

Preface: Our review is based on the following lifestyle. We are full-time RVers simply travelling to see the US and not vacationing. We generally spend 3-14 nights in any CG and move on. Our priority in selecting a CG is: America the Beautiful Senior Pass discounts, then Military CGs, City, County, then State Parks. Commercial CGs are our last choice.
General Overview: The route in has easy access. The roads inside the park are wavy; therefore, travel slowly. There are low limbs that scraped our roof. We require a 12’10” clearance. We stayed 4 nights at this park at Site #84 in the River Birch section, 50 amp electric service without water or sewer was available. There are water hydrants in the area where you can fill your tank or tote water from them to your site. No one is permitted to affix and keep their water hose attached. The electric service had no issues. Our site was on a gravel surface with a patio. There were no issues with leveling. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. The shower/bathhouse which was clean; however, about ¼ mile back up the entrance road. There is a concrete and brick outhouse in the River Birch Loop. The Loop has 20 campsites. There is a playground for youngsters up through 5 years old in this section of the park. Trash collection is a dumpster located in the vicinity of the beginning of the camping loop. AT&T and Verizon service were both available usually with two to three of four bars. We were able to stream movies with AT&T service via an iPhone 7plus and iPhoneSE hotspots and Verizon Jetpack.

Always well kept, pretty, and clean, we enjoyed the turtles crossing the road and the staff and rangers were very informative.

Beautiful park well maintained and populated with wonderful people. A most pleasant experience. The only downside was the roads getting to it, but bump bump bump has become the National anthem

Thompson Causeway is a very nice park. Well maintained concrete slabs for campers and nice areas for tents. The vault toilets and shower houses are kept clean as well. If you bike or hike you'll like the trails in and around the park. There are also many neat things to see and do in the surrounding area.

Thomson Causeway is a great place to camp, nice sites, affordable, and beautiful views of the Mississippi. Bring your bike and kayak. Our only issue was the mosquitos, even backwoods Off wouldn't keep them away.
