always a joy to spend time at Thompson campground. the flies and little black bugs were really bad this year. Had to go in to town for a fly swatter. so nice along the river

I really liked the campground and the area. The abundance of wildlife was a joy to watch and, for the most part, it was very quiet. The one problem was on Friday when a group came in after dark, were yelling amongst themselves, then played music until 3:30 am keeping me awake. There was no one around to enforce the quiet hours or they did not care to enforce the quiet hours. Because of that, it is unlikely I will return in the future.

One of my favorite places on the river, Most sites have level cement pads, well spaced.

This was my first time at Thomson Causeway camping. Campground was more than what I expected from a government facility. Well laid out, well maintained and clean. Nice they had extra parking for the vehicles overflow. Best camp fire wood I have ever had from a campground shed. Will definitely put this on my list for another visit. Beware of IL state highway 84 though if driving in from the south. Very rough and lots of repairs underway. Hope it gets repaved soon.
