The campground was clean as always. The check-in process was quick and simple. It was nice to face the north at the tip of the center loop, so we could watch much of the wildlife (beavers, eagles, pelicans, etc.) This is also a great place for bike riding, either in the park or outside down the bike trail. I rode out to the lock and dam.

Very clean and well maintained. The lighting in the campground was too bright at night. Would be nice if it could be turned off or dimmed for stargazing after 10pm or so. Plus the light shined into our camper and tents at night.

Such a nice place along the bike trail for our group. My comment is about the lighting on the camping electric boxes. It is nice in the evening, but I wish it turned off a t 10pm since it is very bright for tent campers.

Great camping here amid the backwater of the Mississippi - beavers, muskrats, birds, water and sky. Yes, mosquitos, too! Good flat spots. Quiet vibe. The new kiosks for electricity and water worth great but we all wish the lighted tops could be set to go off at 10 PM. The light ruins the star gazing and is bad for the wildlife.

Reserved 2 nights in May on Site 120 while traveling north in our motor home along the Great River Road. We had a great view on the banks of the wide Mississippi River. We enjoyed the abundant wild life and the bike trail. Rode the trail to Lock & Dam 13 and stopped at Bears Drive In in Thomson for lunch. The park and restrooms were clean. Campground was roughly half full and very quiet on a Monday & Tuesday night before Memorial Day weekend. Except for the mosquitoes and gusty winds coming off the river, it was a very enjoyable stay.

Take IL State Route 84 to Thomson, Illinois. Turn west onto Main Street, then turn south onto Lewis Avenue.

General
- New check-out/set up times this year: Campsites available to set up on at 2 pm, you may set up earlier than 2 pm if the campsite is vacant
- All campers must check-in on the day of arrival during fee booth hours.
- Fee booth hours are: Monday - Wednesday - Thursday - Sunday - Mondays of holiday weekends
- Campsites 33, 79-97, and 127-131 do not have water available at each campsite. You are able to fill up your holding tank at the dump station or from a water faucet. Campers must unhook from water faucet when done filling holding tank.
- Please make sure to empty or flush your water and waste tanks at the designated dump station drains only. Emptying tanks, including freshwater tanks, on roadways, parking lots, campsites or other areas in the park is prohibited. Also, dumping or emptying water or waste tanks, including freshwater tanks, on state, county or city roads is illegal per state statutes. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Campers using a discount card are required to verify their discount card number during check-in by providing the discount pass and a photo ID.
- Only one RV and two tents will be allowed on RV sites. The only exception is if there is no RV on site, in which case you may have three tents.
- Visitors are expected to be aware of Campground Rules

- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- Firewood can be purchased in the campground during the hours of 5 pm to 8 pm nightly for $6 per bundle from the on-site firewood shed. Use the QR code at the firewood shed to pay for firewood using a credit card. No cash or checks are accepted for firewood sales.
