We SO enjoyed Thomson Causeway! Peaceful, beautiful, great bird/wildlife watching, and stunning views over the Mississippi River and backwaters. Camp sites are generous and private (especially on our loop, a bit more 'density' as you get around the river-side, naturally, for the water-front views). Bathroom/shower facilities were 'reasonably' clean, but could use some updated plumbing fixtures. Rangers were very attentive and friendly, and the electric, water and sewer service points are well cared-for. Cozy Thomson, IL is quaint, and between the Casey's, the ice creme and pizza stores - but especially the very impressive DG store north of town, you won't want for any last minute needs! We look forward to making Thomson Causeway a regular destination!

Great camp ground. Very clean and well maintained. Bike trail leads to nearby towns. Restaurants, ice cream and coffee shop are all within less than a 15 mile bike ride. It’s a very beautiful place to camp. The Mississippi is so pretty to watch the sunsets! We have already booked another stay for a week in the fall.

We were in site 67. The site has shade and is 30’ from the Mississippi River. All sites have concrete pads. Site 67 has electric and water. The park is very clean and maintained.

Even though the Mayflies decided to hatch while we were there & the heat index was 103 degrees during our stay, but we thoroughly enjoyed our site with the Mississippi just in front of us. It was so pretty in the campground at night with all the electrical pedestals lit up, too. We hope to be back again either later this year or next year.

Lovely site looking over smaller marshy area. Quiet and shady, nice breeze so minimal bugs. Lots of birds to watch and even a deer that comes out every evening on the other side of the water. I extended my stay for the full 14 days it was so peaceful here. 💖

As expected the shambles came in a bit. With the rain, we decided to visit the Sawmill and find one of the Clinton trolls.

Site was all concrete and was great due to the rain. Very well maintained. We will be back!

Frequent storms were the only negative. This caused soggy grounds & flooding. Nice sites. Great scenery, bird watching & General views of Mississippi River.
