Hardin Ridge

Excellent camping experience. Beautiful tall mature forest. Easy access to Monroe Resevoir. Primitive camping area was great. Quiet, ample space between campsites. Restrooms and showers were spotless with real toilet paper. Staff folk were friendly and helpful. Excellent experience. Enjoyed the "unimproved" atmosphere. No concessionaries, no ticky tacky build up.

We camp here often because of the large wooded lots. They are well kept. Typically reserve sites with both water and electricity. Front gate people are nice. The hiking trails are the best I have seen at a campground. Best we have found anywhere!!

Sucked the fun out of camping. We've always loved the camp sites here. They are all wooded and graveled which is nice for camper or tent. Our last trip was over Labor Day wkd with a larger group for a total of 8 campsites. Most were on a walk-in loop with a couple of electric sites. We gathered on the larger electric sites in the evening around the fire and as soon as it got dark were hassled non-stop by the campground hosts and security for noise. No screaming or playing loud music, but 20 - 30 adults and kids at normal story-telling tones + laughing isn't quiet. For most, it was their first experience at Hardin Ridge and they won't be back. We've camped a lot with larger groups and have pushed the limits on occasion with late-night laughing and cutting up. This wasn't that. I was anxious to show off one of our favorite spots to our friends and ended up with egg on our face thanks to some curmudgeon hosts.

Always clean...love that the spaces are roomy/gives you some privacy....love it that the left side remains "unreservable" for last minute camping; most of the time, that's how we camp...I hate it that anymore when you call all you hear is, "I'm sorry, we don't have anything available"....my life is so hectic, that most times we don't know until the last minute, if we can "pull off" camping.

One of our most favorite places to camp around lake Monroe. We prefer quiet, secluded tent camping, and there're plenty of sites for that. We prefer to come in on weekdays or after school semester just started to avoid students parties, we were camping nearby them couple of times and they're really obnoxious, with bunch of drunks (some possibly even underaged?) yelling after dark and wondering around. But it's not Hardin Ridge fault but closeness to university, you just have to pick the right time, then it's a beautiful recreational time. Hosts and gate employees are always nice, kind and helpful. Bathrooms and showers are very clean. I wish there would be not just ice, but maybe also soda fountain (or chilled 2 liter bottles?) by the gate? There is nowhere around to buy any drinks, unless you drive several miles.

This place is why I purchased an RV. Nice spots, quiet, clean restrooms and showers, and great hosts.

We enjoyed our camping trip at Hardin Ridge because the site was large and wooded, relatively private and the loop was peaceful and quiet. The campground staff seemed happy and cheerful and were helpful with our questions. And the restrooms and showers were were well maintained. It is pretty remote from shopping so I would suggest planning ahead and bringing in your foods rather than waiting to find a local food store.

Beach was still closed due to high water but campground was still clean and peaceful.

The bathroom/showers were the cleanest I have ever seen in a park. Boat dock was very accessible (need tie off points for boats on dock) Loved the campsites a little smaller than I am used to but overall staff was amazing and will definitely be back and recommend this location!!!
