This small campground has great views of the river and is kind of secluded from the rest of the Coralville Dam Recreational Area. Some sites are concrete pads and only have electric hookups (30A), and others are gravel. most sites were very level. The restrooms and showers were kept clean by the campground staff and security and Rangers were seen often driving around the campground. Tailwater East is a small campground with a dump station, but the freshwater fill would be iffy as it is the same as the blackwater rinse hose. We used the main dump station at West Overlook, which has separate fresh water fill spigots. TWE also has a boat launch for the lower half of the Iowa river. We enjoyed our eight days here hiking, kayaking, and using all the recreational area's amenities.

The bathrooms were out of order, so we had to walk up the hill to the day use area. These were locked in the morning…no place to go potty when we woke up.
This is a local party spot after dark. Carloads of people came after 10pm blasting music even though they were surrounded by sleeping campers on either side of the river. Good thing there was a signal so the police could be contacted. They were quick to handle.
The dumpster is extremely stinky!
Seems there is a better camping experience on the opposite side of the river, minus the party noise by the visiting individuals.

Our stay was great minus the group across the way having two larger dogs not tethered. This created an issues for my two dogs that were tied out to our camper. Other than that, the stay was wonderful and we’ve already scheduled a longer outing later in the season!

Nice spot downstream of the dam. Great fishing along the banks. Very clean bathrooms.
Only confusion is potable water not marked. No signs or blue handles. Red handles- which usually mean not suitable for drinking. We had water in our tank prior to arriving so as was okay for us.
