West Overlook Campground

The sites we're good size and easy to get into. We were there during the week, so it was fairly quiet. It is on a reservoir, and we heard one power boat Sunday afternoon, so I expect the weekends are noisy.

We stay at West Overlook anytime we are near Iowa City for events. Been doing so for over nearly 15 years. The site is always clean, comfortable and peaceful. The hosts are always welcoming. Best value for the money. I do and always recommend this site. The site is also located on the fronts of Coralville lake and minutes to the fossil gorge at the mouth of the spillway. Site is also 15 minutes from downtown Iowa City and minutes from the Coralville strip which has everything you need, from food, hardware, entertainment and all supplies you can ever need.

Beautiful place to camp . Plenty of shade. Coralville Lake and the Dam are right by you helping with a good view. There’s also a big beach and plenty of room for parking and boating if that’s your thing .

My truck and boat trailer was in the lot at the boat ramp, my grandson and I come back from fishing and there was a park ranger about to write a ticket for my being there. I have a senior lifetime pass that was in the window of my truck but that wasn't the hang tag I was suppose to have in my truck. That ticket would have ended my ever coming to coralville reservoir to camp or fish ever again. I told the man at the booth about this and he agreed with me .

Large spaces and wonderful facilities.

Nice quiet park. enjoyed my stay and will have to return to try my hand a fishing and other water activity.

The people at the check-in booth were most accommodating. They were friendly and worked with us on getting the best available site for our preferences. Thank you.

The campground is very tired and the restroom facilities need attention. It looked like they hadn't ben attended to in some time.
