the restroom/shower houses are the best I've ever seen!!!! Very well kept park (a little overgrown in some areas) boat launches and beach area very nice, premises patrolled very frequently be park personel.

Our first stay at a COE campground. We are pleased with the facility, spacious sites, clean campground, dump station and trash receptacles were well kept, clean showers!

We always enjoy camping here, except our May 1-7, as had no electricity on Site W66 for 5 days, so we brought the camper home, but did not get our refund even though the park ranger advised us we WOULD get a refund!

I love federal campgrounds especially those that are located near dams. West Overlook Campground is no exception. It was clean, lawn well groomed, tarred roads, and the NEW bathroom/shower facility was stellar. I didn't give the facilities a top rating because the loop near the new bathroom/showers is near the edge of the embankment and on very windy days it takes the brunt of the wind unlike the rest of the campground which is closer to the dam, lower in elevation, and protected by trees. One annoying aspect of the bathrooms is the lack of a locking system that indicated someone is inside--like a little red indicator that says, "occupied." To find out if anyone is inside, you have to try turning the door knob. That type of door lock can't be that expensive. Another annoying issue is with the new bathroom showers. You cannot adjust the direction of the shower nozzle. That means as soon as you turn on the water, you get hit with cold water until the warm water eventually begins spraying you. Despite these small inconveniences, I would still highly recommend the campground.

Great campsite with large concrete pad and great view of the lake. Also happy that they added water at these sites. Great place to camp.

From Interstate 80 (Iowa City, IA) take Exit 244 towards Dubuque St./North Liberty. Travel north on Dubuque St. for 3 mi and turn right onto West Overlook Rd. NE. Travel on West Overlook Rd. NE for 1.1 mi. At the stop sign take a slight left turn....

NE for 1.1 mi. At the stop sign take a slight left turn. The entrance to the West Overlook Campground will be located straight ahead.
From Interstate 380 (North Liberty, IA) take Exit 4 towards North Liberty. Travel east on W. Penn St. for 2 mi and turn right onto N Dubuque St. Travel south on N Dubuque St. for 1.9 mi, at the traffic circle, continue straight onto Dubuque St NE. Continue traveling south on Dubuque St. NE for 1.8 mi. Turn left onto West Overlook Rd. NE and travel east for 1.1 mi. At the stop sign take a slight left turn. The entrance to the West Overlook Campground will be located straight ahead.
